I see m3alabama's point. So you're oil will stay cooler longer which allows you to get the coolant, trans and p/s even hotter. I do agree that these cars need more cooling but that's not the point of the discussion. Its about oil cooling, not cooling as a whole.

On that...I believe TMS sells an all aluminum radiator with an integrated p/s cooler. Now, who's going to come out with an improved DCT cooler? I've been considering adding water/iso alcohol as a charge cooler as well. It helps tremendously on my E46.

Why not water/meth? Because you can get iso alcohol at Walgreens. Need to search for meth.

keep in mind too anyone using the stock oil gauge for "accurate" reference is foolish. It's been said before that the gauge is just a visual indicator w/ a large variance for movement. What you are seeing may not be as drastic as you think.. You really need an A/M gauge to have any reliable info

Did your M24 oil cooler come with the threaded shaft (circled below) pre-installed or were you able to remove them from the stock cooler? My CSF oil cooler doesn't have the threaded shaft and I've stripped the hex sockets on them trying to remove them from the stock cooler.

That's odd. It should have come with that already installed. How much extra can a stud cost?

Oil cooler is a good long-term insurance policy for the motor. Temp difference is noticeable however, I would say the addition of a good radiator has an even bigger effect on temps. I've added a CSF radiator in the past year and peak track temps are way down based on the needle position. Can't say anything about absolute temps as I don't have data logging, but motor seems to be cooler when I open the hood after a session.

Thanks for the reply. Finding a threaded shaft with a hex opening like that proved difficult (Real OEM doesn't show them as separately available parts) but I just picked up some bolts with the same diameter/thread pitch at the hardware store. I'm installing the whole CSF cooling package (radiator, oil, power steering and transmission coolers).
