760i v12

So I do not think I have ever read anyone's actual experience with the new 760 TT v12 monster engine. I am betting this is not a large tuning market for these buyers but can you imagine a big v12 with two turbos to boost up even higher. In stock form this thing is making 535 horsepower! I am sure goin to 800 hp is easily doable with this engine.

I was more curious if anyone has experienced this car and what it was like? The thing with the v12 TT v. the v8tt or I6 tt is the 6 litres allows completely linear power delivery throughout the entire rev range like a NA car only with the punch of TT. Crazy power

My guess might be that this engine is more designed for cruising rather than brute force. I am not sure if the internals are strong enough to support massive boost increases and power. Though, I do believe that the transmission is bullet proof.

the 760 is a super rare car. I think BMW sells less then 300 a year in the whole us! We have sold one and the couple who bought it bought it for his wife to go back and fourth from the grocery store, mall, and golf course. Im sure she has no idea how much of a beast that thing is!

I have driven the new 7 series alpina and that thing is ridiculous.

No offense but the b7 would obliterate you in an m3.
But that is a v8 and I still think this v12 in the 760li would be a monster. 535hp is a monster and there is no two ways about it. I would love to see a dyno curve of that. Must be one huge flat line from 2k-7k of 400 foot pounds at the wheels.

On the B7 note it is still pretty disapointing given it makes the same hp/torque as the outgoing supercharged v8 with only a bit earlier peak torque. From a TTv8 to only get 500 hp with new internals is pretty lame IMO given that can be achieved with a tune of the regular TTv8 from a 750. Nice car but I would go for the M6 for that money in the 4 door version that is coming.

I think a b7 should be in the 550hp range and really make it stand out. Either way the b7 would crush the competition

I wouldn't say obliterate seeing as both an m3 dct and b7 run around 12.6-12.7 and the m3 usually traps a couple mph higher... The b7 weighs about 1k lbs more

From standing still, B7's power advantage is negated with its additional weight. But from +40mph roll, B7 would destroy M3 since weigh becomes insignificant at higher speed (straight driving, off course)

It actually wouldn't but DCT vs 6 speed could be the determining factor. Like he said, the M3 "usually" traps higher. On the contrary, other than magazine tests, not many people are running B7's in the 1/4 to see what they'd do on a cold day at a perfectly prepped track like the guys out there running 12.4@114 in stock M3's. I'd bet the cars are even, with the B7 having a down low advantage.

the new B7 has serious power but doesn't have the 8 speed auto (yet) so it sort of has a gearing shortfalling and actually isn't any, or hardly is faster than the older lighter supercharged 7

The B7 does NOT need nor would benefit performance wise (would improve mpg) from an 8 speed. WIth its torque/power curve, it does not need 8 short gears but rather 6 is plenty as it has plenty of low-medium torque to use the entire rev range rather than just a couple of thousand like the m3 for example since its powerband is much more limited to the top 2k revs. The B7 can make constant usable power from 1k-6k so a 6 speed can keep you in the 3k-6500k range instead of 4.5-6500 and has the benefit of needing less gear shifts and staying in lower gear longer

That's like saying better mathematics yields a less accurate answer. Keep in mind the car doesn't peak power until 5500 rpm and max torque is reached all the way to 4800rpm

Part of the reason they used the 6 speed was to lower cost of strengthening the 8 speed in the standard 750.
