Track Pads for Stock M3 Brakes

No worries, I just figured I'd mention it since you are thinking about track pads. But definitely get real track pads, regardless of which ones you choose. Especially as someone with prior track experience. The E92 M3 is a heavy powerful beast that needs some major friction to slow down.

EBC Yellows. No fade and after a proper bed in, no noise. lol I am using them for a daily pad. A lot of initial bite (which I like) and it is consistent. Oh and you can buy direct for $225 for the whole set lol.

Coming from the Z06, I used to use Hawk HP+ and then switched to DTC's down the road on stock rotors and found them to be a perfect compromise between initial bite and rotor friendliness.

Now that I am trying to get around to tracking the M3, is there any pad that you guys would recommend to meet the criteria I had with the Z06?

The only pads i've had experience with are ferodos ds2500 and this was with an STi, they were good but after the fourth lap or so fade occured. I would try HP+ or something a bit more track oriented like DTC 70/60.

For a car THIS heavy? I doubt that HP+ would suffice. I'd go straight to DTC 60s or 70s if I were you.

If you want rotor friendliness, Pagid RS19 would be your choice

I've been using Stoptech street pads for 4 HPDEs this season at LRP running intermediate. They have been great. Good initial bite and no fade. They are great on the street too so its been a good dual purpose pad for me so far.

What pad would match up well with ad08r on an otherwise all stock m3 sedan with camber pins pulled?
Advanced group. I used to drive a c5 z06 on r555 rii( similar to nt01) all stock except for Hans, roll bar, seats. Carbotech rp2 and xp10 was what I used. Ran a 1:25 with traffic and short shifting with some margin for error at summit point main.

I'm thinking pf11 , DTC 70 or 60, or the same pads aabefore considering the e9x weight.

Any suggestions?

i used pagid rs19s with e90 and ad08s and worked well. lot lower wear even on a pig.

I run PFC08's on my 2011 E90 M3. Same camber situation as you have and I have RE11 street tires instead of ad08r's. 08's provide plenty of initial bite (though not PFC01 levels) for HPDE, last forever, and never fade. Instructor level. Not cheap but the nice thing is you don't have to bed them in at all and you can swap between the PFC08's and stock pads with no brake issues at all. Easy peasy.

I heard that brake sensors can not be plugged in the PFC-08 pads. Is it true?
Looking into these now, as i didnt like weird bed in procedure for Pagid RS-19 pads.

You don't have to and should not plug in the sensor to any race pad. I disconnect mine all together and remove the plug (permanently mounted on my street pads).

I wouldn't do HP+, they really do no good on the track. I went from HP+ to porterfield R4 front and rear. R4 are good on the track and are not as harsh as DTC or top race pads.

Maybe late to the party but I'm using RS19s front and RS7 back (the combo sold by Turner) with AD08s on my E90. They have three events on them (6 days total) so far and seem to be wearing extremely well. If you don't mind not having the initial bite of some other pads, these seem to be a real workhorse.

Everyone still running the typical stuff? Lots of pad threads I've seen haven't been updated in a while. I guess people stopped using pads

I had PFC08 lined up as my next pad, but with kids I spend less time changing pads and less time doing track days. I was hoping FCP Euro would stock a great track/street pad, but it looks like I'll either get another set of ST street pads or who knows.

Check in the track/autocross sub-forum, tons of smart people in there who can discuss. Yes, PFC08 is still very popular.

Thanks for your help. I am planning next season's set up (dedicated tires - not slicks quite yet! - track pads) and seasoned veteran advice would help. The last time I was out, I whacked the OEM pads, so I need to switch out for track days. Which is good for my aggression level, but bad for my wallet!

PFC08 put a lot of heat into the rotor. The rest of the E8x/E9x not on BBKs either run DTC60/70, Pagids RSL19/29, Endless and their temps are either the same or lower on a much faster car ie. R comps, cage, stripped, 1/2/3 way suspension vs camber plates, AD08Rs.

Expect to replace your rotor soon after they're down to about 29-29.5mm range. I have multiple high, low spots; runout and clear blue tinge. Permanent hum rather than squeal of cold brakes when going home.

And now, it's time to upgrade from cheese rotors to 2pc (PFC DDv3, RB etc)

I've used Ferodo DS3000 and DS2500. As I don't switch pads between track days and occasional enthusiastic driving, I prefer DS2500's, they don't squeak.

So FCP Euro now stocks DS2500 for the front and rear and I'm thinking about trying them for the track using stock rotors/calipers with upgraded SS lines, brake fluid and NT01s on 18x10s. Would this be a worthwhile path given the warranty and lowering consumable costs? I'll prob track upwards of 6 events a year.
