What is this option code?
Hey guys, just got offered a car by a dealer, and in the Vehicle Inquiry Report it states that the car comes with some option called the LAUNCH SUPPLY, code #999. Does anyone know what this means/includes Is this something that other non-launch vehicles wont have?

I am getting a launch vehicle too. I just checked my spec sheet and there is the same option listed. I really dont know what that means and would really help if someone explained. It says its a no cost option.

I just checked the specs of another car (ordered). It didnt have that option. It also didnt have "Training/Service Fee" of $180 for the dealer but no cost for the customer. This was there in the launch car.

I'm not entirely sure, but I reckon that is comparable to the German HEA cars, which means no more than this car is originally meant to be a dealer launch car. For the european cars the production of these HEA started three months before the first customer cars were produced. Some say the HEA cars may be of a lesser built quality, but that doesn't have to be true for the US cars either (given the fact that the M3 per se is being built since June '07).
Best regards, south

There should be no difference in build quality. I think South was referring to worries that the production line might not be dialed in for the very first Euro cars.

I thought launch code 999 meant that the vehicle was equiped with certain options for launch. Porsche did this with the 997S it came with chrono package PCCB and a slew of other options meant for launch. Dont know if this is how bmw does it?
