So first there was the iphone. Than the made the iphone big and called it the ipad. Now they're making the ipad into a flip phone and calling it the macbook air?

MacBook Air is a computer guy. Not an iPad.

I guess i now have what is the "old" Air. I actually like mine, it is perfect to travel with, especially with the speck case. I don't like the fact that apple nearly doubles some capabilities and drops the price drastically with every refresh these days, it makes me feel a bit shortchanged. I was actually very tempted yesterday but am now resigned to keeping mine for a bit more time.

Congratulations OP.

Went to the apple store today and checked it out. Would be awesome to have at work. Great screen, very portable and incredibly fast for it's size. Looks unreal until you start using it and realize it's actually a great computer.

I hope at least my GF gets one if the boss says no!

Didn't Jobs say that the future was tablets and not net-books?

My friend got the 11in version. The netbook itself felt very solid. Similar to the MBP construction.

Is it hard to get accustomed to a Mac after using Windows for 25+ years? I do have an iphone which I find easy to operate/navigate.

Yes, also Macs are the suck.

You could always get the Macbook Air and then boot Windows 7.

You could get around the Mac OS after a labotamy, even considering no prior familiarization.

Yeah, but anyone who takes anything that douchebag says seriously is obviously devoid of common sense or the ability to think for himself/herself.

If you have trouble getting used to a Mac after using Windows all your life, you shouldn't be on a computer. It's such a joke despite the fact that so many people are afraid of it

Buy a new hard drive ($60-120), no reason to dump a notebook if that's what went wrong. If anything, have it fixed and sell it, definitely worth some $$$.

I use my MB Pro 13" as a desktop at home--hook it up to external monitor/KB/mouse/speakers, just keep it on a shelf lol. Occasionally disconnect it and bring it along to school or travel. Perfect for everything except what I have my x360 for.

My dad just ordered max-spec 13" air, he travels a lot so weight was most important. I think that is really the deciding factor -- if you travel, you'll want it to be lighter and more portable, yet still powerful enough to tackle most anything you need done. If you don't lug it around everywhere, MBP will give you better performance (and a larger screen) per dollar.
