Where did you purchase your Laser Interceptor? Who did the install. I read many great reviews on it. Will be a great countermeasure to the NJSP.

V1 all the way also get GPS angel or Trapster on your Iphone with GPS location alert of RED LIGHT CAMERAS AND SPEED CAMERAs in the area. NYC has alot of them up these days.

You purchase the LI directly from Laser Intercepter USA. There is a GB going on e46fanatics.com

I did the install myself. It's pretty easy, just a pain to align the heads so they are pointed perfectly straight down the road. It's also important to choose a good location for power switch as I'm not so happy with my current one. I'm going to need to buy a new piece of dash trim to get rid of the hole I drilled haha. I wanted it somewhere visible since I don't like the voice alerts and just wanted a visual from the LED, but then realized I don't even need that since my V1 will let me know when I'm being hit.

i have had K40 radar for years... currently have front and back radar and laser jammers... lights are hidden right above Speedometer and RPM... best part is that it runs via bluetooth and you do not have to drill into the firewall.. i swear by it!... be prepared to spend some $ for what i believe is the best..

I'd strongly consider an escort if you live in urban areas. I'm in CT and for that I love my V1. But, no way would I be in NYC with a valentine.

K40 sucks. I had that first. The bluetooth is the worst part cause first you have to locate the remote, then it doesn't act instantly when you push the button. The LED's are so bright in the dash they light up the whole car at night and it always gets false alarms. Plus the laser jammer part is only alright. I tried it out with a cop friend one day and it only took a second till he was able to get a reading off me, and it was installed properly with the heads perfectly level and straight. The radar also isn't even close to the sensitivity of the V1.

Now I have an ruined instrument cluster with two LEDs stuck in it.

+1

I have heard many negative reviews about the K40. Also with this system the RF receivers, are mounted usually in the front grill of the car which for radar is to low. Its a known practive to mount a radar dectector , in this case RF receivers for the K40, at the highest position possible. Currently I have a V1 and I have it located just below my rear view mirror. Never has it failed me today *knocks on wood*. The only issues I have with the Laser Interceptor is I read on a few websites the one used in testing vs other laser diffuser products was a high powered unit (which I see on Laser Interceptors website is being offered). The difference on this is the diodes in the device are much more powerful then in the standard kit thus increasing your range from detection. Hopefully everyone realizes these devices are intended to buy you time so you can slow down so when the officer finally gets a read on you its with in the speed limit.

J08M3 I envy your ability to install the system yourself. I myself am an Electrical Engineer but I would get blue balls when it comes to messing around with my car.

Come on.... it's just a $70k car pull it apart.... what's the worst that can happen?? haha...

It's really a straight forward install, nothing can really go wrong if you take your time to plan where you want the switch, cpu, and jamming heads. If you go for a small piece of trim and you mess it up you can just replace it. Still cheaper than paying someone to do full install. I like the satisfaction I get when I complete a project myself. I figure worst than can happen is I have to pay someone to finish where I left off. No big deal

+1 on location of radar detector..... Low is bad, high is good. Major problem for K40 unit...

I had a shop recently install the 9500 ci with the controls molded into the ash tray so the lid can close. They did a amazing job, on the custom install and it looks almost factory the way they blended it. I have two jammers behind my lower mesh front grill and the rear jammer is mounted via license plate bracket. The best part is the escort has GPS so after you pass a bank or a building more than twice it stores it and stops it from going off. If it goes off know on roads I normally travel I know to slow down asap.

Do you have pics of the laser heads behind the mesh? This typically isn't a good idea. If you're a bit off to the side of the car the mesh will block the signal. Quite often people with jammers stuck behind grilles will get a signal they are being hit, but are unable to jam the gun. You can get punch through at a far distance. Worst part is you'll think you're jamming them but you are not. Have you tried it yet with a laser gun to find out if it jams?

the real problem is given the affluence of our area, we are seeing a lot more of those new Audis/Volvos with lane departure warning systems driving around.

These systems light up my V1, and I hate more false alarms in my everyday adventures. Another fake to add to supermarket alarm systems and road signs.

Do any of you know if the LI system interfaces with Escort Passport 9500xis? How about the Laser Pro Park?

well I decided to go V1... cant afford the 9500 right now. its bailed me out about 3 times in the past week and a half. the worst of it though was a cop RIDING me in the slow lane of the highway trying to get me to speed up (I was doing 70 in a 65) and pass cars (illegally) or force me to go faster then give me a ticket. my radar was SCREAMING... I maintained and eventually he used the passing lane to get ahead of me.

He probably simply wanted to drive past you. It gets rather irritating when you are simply driving and everyone in front of you panics and all of a sudden does the limit simply because you are behind them. You could have just turned off the V1-they are perfectly legal in NJ
