Hmm, it would be nice if you painted the intercooler to darken the bottom middle inlet. So out of place looking at a matte black car and the intercooler screams to be looked at.
Funny you should mention that. I was going to ask what the best product/method would be to get that done– I think it would really do wonders for the front. Any suggestions?

Thanks man. I agree... seeing the foam in the rear looks awful, and the intercooler needs some protection from the daily driving.

2 problems though:
•Getting the the bumpers to fit with wrapping the mesh up & under the bumper. The foam backing to the bumper gets in the way. I guess just cut away at it til it fits?

•Not sure how the wrap would work w/ it. If the mesh is stuck to the inside of the bumper, where would the vinyl would wrap on to?

Any ideas??

Wrapping it is out of the question, so it's either you paint it matte black or just like what Sean05 had said, use some honeycomb mesh. In matte black finish please.

Since the vehicle is already wrapped, you have to drill holes on the bumper for the clips to hold the honeycomb mesh unfortunately. Don't worry coz there is another alternative which is painting the intercooler. That's a better idea since mounting any type of mesh on the front requires drilling holes on the amuse bumper to make the mesh stay put at speed.

Oh ya, i wasn't going to wrap in the intercooler

I was wondering what kind of paint would work best/ and what method beyond masking everything off, or if it would have to come out

I think the shop was thinking about putting the mesh in and using epoxy of some sort to hold it to the inside of the bumper. This would then make re-wrapping impossible– and not keen on drilling holes. I wish the amuse took a cue from Arkym and used the OEM mesh.. but then i guess it wouldn't look the way it does

+1000

I don't understand why people get these bumpers and then leave it without grills. It looks like a cheap civic body kit with no grills.

I had an M3 replica bumper on my 335i for a VERY brief period of time and there were no clips to hold on to the honeycomb OEM bottom grill. So, I put a TON of 3M double sided tape on it to hold it in place, and it held in place perfectly fine.

If you don't plan to install mesh, your best bet is to get the intercooler powder-coated OR jet-coated matte black. Both types of coating will not peel under heat, but the jet coat has a way higher heat resistance.

If the shop could conceal the holes being drilled on the bumper, then that's the way to go. If not, they may have to use their idea of using the epoxy. However just like you said, re-wrapping would be impossible. It's now comes down to either painting the intercooler or putting some mesh grill down there of some sort.
