Conti Extreme Contact DWS...

After getting 21,600 miles on my stock 19" PS2's I went looking for a cheaper longer lasting tire..... The Conti Extreme Contact DWS come with a 50k mile warranty and were right at $1100 out the door with road hazard. The conti's don't make a 265/35-19 rear so I went up to a 275/35-19 rear.....

I was CONCERNED about the "lack" of grip in the dry...but am pleasantly surprised...sure it has less peak grip than the PS2's and the traction control cuts in sooner...but its still very predictable and easy to control....

Ride comfort is slightly better than the PS2's and the road noise is lower....

Sure they don't look as good as the PS2's.....but so far I am happy with them....the 275 rear sure looks beefy....I might have to take them out on track to see how they are at the limit...

If your looking for a longer lasting, warrantied 19" tire...consider the DWS....

Hey man, do you have a way to precisely measure the width and diameter of both your front and rear tires? I've been looking for high-performance or ultra-high-performance all-season tires in stock sizes to replace the PS2s since day 1, but nobody makes them in stock sizes. Either the fronts or the rears. Some folks say Michelins are a bit wider overall than other competitors due to having a 'lip' that protects the rim, but I'm almost sure a 275/35 will definitely be taller overall, and don't want that; M3 already looks like a 4x4 from the rear. But don't want to assume, hence my question.

And yes, you're absolutely right. The great majority of us don't need any more grip than your tires provide, whether we admit it or not (I do , and I don't drive slow). Certainly not on the street. Just keep in mind your winter capabilities (the S part, as in snow) will disappear first, when the 'S' is gone, so don't plan to wear them out if you care about winter traction. Take care.

275/35's are approximately 0.3" taller than the 265's.

Do some research on tirerack.com, all of the specs are there.

I know how to do it mathematically, but don't care about that; that's why I asked you. No tire from a different manufacturer is going to have the same width and height, although the differences should be small. I just wouldn't want them to be more than the mathematical difference (preferrably less). Guess will stick with the PS2s for now.

Tire rack told me that the tread wear warranty wouldn't apply to us due to us not being able to rotate tires. Does anyone else know differently?

Why the DWS instead of the DW? Do you drive in the snow where you live?

Nice! About to order some for my sis's SLK350 since she lives in NYC as soon as they get the fronts in stock. FWIW, this won the latest ultra high performance all-season shootout from Tire Rack.
