Dude.. dog is ripping me off..
I just bought a black mini-schnauzer. I had a salt&pepper mini-sch before, this is my second schnauzer.
It is so damn CUTE!!!! hahaha I never thought I would like a black color dog, but I love it. Its funny when I can't really see him when he is under the shadow or when the lights are off. anyways. Man. I never realized it costs so damn much to raise a damn dog. I spent nearly $500 on dog supplies/hospital bills, and its been only 3 days since he got here. I keep thinking how many new golf clubs I could've gotten or I could've spent that $500 on a nice exhaust that I wanted. BAHHHH. Not only that, I've been getting only 4 hours of sleep past few days because of the dog. Potty training is a BI*CH!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Heh, I have 3 rescues. 2 Great Pyrenees and 1 mutt. They do cost quite a bit of money. They eat alot too. I go through a 40lb bag of food in less than 2 weeks.
BTW, you can't have a dog thread without posting dog pics. Here's a pic of one of my dogs... Mr.Simo-San

Once you go black... ha nevermind.
Anyway, dogs are worth every penny of their costs; but they can be expensive. As someone above said, you can't go to the vet without paying at least 100.00. Its a shame that its that expensive. This is why many people can't afford to properly care for a sick dog and end up giving it away (although I would NEVER give my dog away) |

I have two corgi's that I raised (at different times) when they were 6 weeks old.

its funny that everyone says it costs $100 every time you go to the vet as i have found this to be true also. Actually sometimes i think i hope this only costs $100 dollars because if your dog gets something serious it can be crazy expensive.
as far as crates go buy one that will accomodate your particular dog when it is full grown and make sure to buy the puppy dividing wall that will fit into the crate and is adjustable.

I have treated my GROWN Westie at home for mutiple things by using the internet. You can get CHEAP rabies at Petco every once in a while. Boo goes for his 6/23. Less than half of my Vet's charge.
Now about having to put grated cheddar cheese on his canned food so he will eat.... Frig'n ex-girlfriend fed him scraps when I wasn't looking. BIG NO NO if you don't want to do it forever. I like dogs better than most people I meet.

+1, all good advice.
I do try not to buy my drugs at the vet if I can get them from a pharmacist, way cheaper. I always ask anyhow. Alot of $$$ can be saved especially if you have a sick dog or a mature dog who is aging (gracefully or not). GL. |

Yeah, my little guy spend a night in the ER because of an intestinal infection and it cost me $400+ with the tests and all. Gotta love the pets though
