Might help us if you explain how you burned the DVD.

If car isn't recognizing the DVD then you have a bad DVD build. Car should see you put a new DVD in and tell you to turn off car for X amount of minutes and then turn it back on while in open view of the sky.

Yep, that's what happened with mine, worked perfectly. I burned the ISO image to a DVD using disk utility on my Mac.

What do you mean by a bad DVD build? How did you correct the issue?

Downloaded the 3 separate files to my computer from the posted links then burn the files to the DVDs. My computer recognize the files when I put each DVDs in.

This is the part I was referring to. Mine worked correctly the first time.

When you download everything, you will have 3 zip files. Extract them and then burn one of them to a DVD (I used part 1, not sure if it matters). Then put that DVD in your car and try it out. You do not need to burn all 3 to a DVD, just one of them.

Do you have the CCC or CIC sat nav, as im sure the 08 came with CCC which uses a single DVD, the latest maps (according to bmw) are the 2009 maps, no further update has been done for the CCC units.

Dfjawas and I both have the CCC unit (old skool) nav setup. The latest maps are the 2014 maps actually which is now available for download on this forum for both CCC and the CIC units.
