Donnie's Outrageous M5 Hot Lap(s) at PCD

So my son and I picked up my 2009 M3 E93 w/DCT yesterday at the Performance Center; I'm told the 1st MY 2009 M3 PCD (3 M3 pickups had been scheduled, but it was just me). I had to start driving it back to AZ, so only a couple of jpg's for now (Thanks to Willie, my delivery rep, for taking them).

Since I was the only customer picking up an M3 that day (such a deal, huh?), rather than sharing one car between myself and my son, the traditional process, instead we each got a car; me in an M3, my son in an X6. And of course we had Donnie all to ourselves

With us each driving individual cars on the normal PCD course we ended up with a little extra time before Delivery of my new car, so we all headed over to the Manufacturing High Speed track for a few laps; a rare, special treat. Great experience and brought back memories of my ED pickup 1.5 years ago and driving on the AutoBahn

Of course even though the whole PCD process is an outstanding experience, the most fun was riding with Donnie on an M5 Hot Lap run; did I say Hot Lap? I meant Hot Laps. This was the most fun of the whole PCD visit; you don't want to miss it. If any of us could just learn to drive on a track like Donnie

PCD is the only way to pickup a BMW; well, after an ED pickup of course. Many thanks to Donnie and Willie for a great PCD experience

Nice to see you finally get the car AZ-BMW! Looks great. PCD sounds like a blast, definitely on my bucket list.

Man you lucky SOB. I know there is at least one other M3 owner picking up his with me on Monday. I'm flying out tomorrow, and I can't wait.

So after 1.5 days of highway driving the new car back to AZ, I'm still averaging ~20mpg at ~70-90mph. And yes, I've been dutifully keeping it under 5,500 rpm and 100 mph, but it is very, very, very difficult (this car is a Beast just waiting to be unleashed)

BTW, it goes in for the 1,200 mile service tomorrow morning in Oklahoma City, then on to AZ

Unfortunately No, but I did ask about one before leaving the PC. All they gave me was a promo DVD of their Performance Driving School; although it did have a few example clips of what we did that morning in the Car Control Skills training. Donnie did tell me if you take one of their driving school courses, you get a DVD of your personal driving, but I'd be willing to pay for one of Donnie's course-manship

Did ED last year on a 335i E93 and will be in Munich/Garmisch for the holidays this year, so my wife said just try a PCD this time and save the 6-8 weeks re-delivery elapsed time
