Went to a movie the other night and it was the first time she was parked in a lot with very few spaces since Amsterdam. Hunted around for a spot near a corner that only had cars on one side.

I've never hugged the dash, but I might give it a try tonight after work.

How do you keep this car under 5500 RPM for the 1st 1500 miles?

BTW, can the Dealer determine if you've "accidently" violated the recommended engine breakin policy so that they can refuse future warranty engine repairs while the car is still under warranty? I guess it doesn't matter now....it's too late.... I did manage to go easy for the 1st 400 miles...damn.

Not sure that's even possible.

I'm sure it is. I know when I took delivery of the P car, I was able to get a print out of how many times there were Type-1 and Type-2 over-revs and at what hour they occurred. I don't think it would be difficult to modify the programming to see at what point the over-rev occurs. Granted I'm comparing it to another auto manufacturer but I feel like any information would probably be helpful. Would BMW do this? I have no idea but it is a possibility.

Totally normal. I even set up a Foscam IP camera in garage so I can check on my baby while I'm away and not able to take her with me.

LMAO well I guess I'm not the only one! The owners manual should come with a list of these "possible side effects" like it's some sort of drug!!!

Lol perfectly normal. I miss the new leather smell. Everytime I go to a BMW dealer and sit in a new M3, the new leather smell brings back memories of the excitement and infatuation of my first week with it. So cherish it while it lasts!!

Is there any way to keep this smell from fading away. The other day I went and I bought all the BMW leather care products.

No idea... that is a great question. I have always wondered.

Anyone else know?

Not only is it "normal" I'd say you needed professional help if you did NOT do these things.

Is it normal to:

-Wonder around town aimlessly just to drive the car.
-Exceed 5000 rpms few times before the break in period.
-Sit in the car for hourse in the garage switching all the settings while your wife is wondering where the hell are you.
-Check the car every 5 seconds for any scratch.
-freak out when someone parks next to you.
-go around the parking lot 5 times looking for a nice car to park next to to avoid dents.
-get addicted to the scent of the fresh leather.
-your wife telling you: "you have to find a male friend to talk to about the car because I can't take it any more"
-turn the radio down or totally off so you can listen to the engine.

I'm in love with this thing.. And I'm going crazy.. Obviously..
