I think it's just awesome how great this new Corvette is. It will lead to innovation from all manufacturers that want to compete in this arena. I wonder how concerned BMW is about this car pulling sales from the M3/4? In the past, I don't even think these two were cross shopped. Now, there's a pretty compelling argument to be made in the Corvettes favor.

This rev matching manual nonsense I think is stupid. KEep the three pedals fully analog (i.e. driver to gearbox only) !!! |

As far as the rev matching from the other guy. I believe you control that with little paddle while you shift. |

Kelley Blue Book, w/all the options and an "excellent" rating, + "retail" shows 58k. If your buying 2011 Z06 for around 70k than I got a 2011 M3 I can sell you for 70k. Here are just a couple off of Cars.com...there are plenty more everywhere, autotrader, CarMax etc etc. http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...nal&listType=1 http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...nal&listType=1 http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...nal&listType=1 Last edited by M3-S65; 01-13-2014 at 10:17 AM.. |

Auto information. They say it outperforms a DCT...
The eight-speed automatic is tuned for world-class shift-response times, and smaller steps between gears keep the LT4 within the sweet spot of the rpm band, optimizing the output of the supercharged engine for exhilarating performance and greater efficiency. For performance driving, the transmission offers full manual control via steering wheel paddles, and unique algorithms to deliver shift performance that rivals the dual-clutch/semi-automatic transmissions found in many supercars – but with the smoothness and refinement that comes with a conventional automatic fitted with a torque converter. In fact, the 8L90's controller analyzes and executes commands 160 times per second, and wide-open-throttle upshifts are executed up to eight-hundredths of a second quicker than those of the dual-clutch transmission offered in the Porsche 911. "There's no trade-off in drivability with the new 8L90 eight-speed automatic transmission – it was designed to deliver performance on par with dual-clutch designs, but without sacrificing refinement," said Bill Goodrich, assistant chief engineer for eight-speed automatic transmissions. "It is also the highest-capacity automatic transmission ever offered in a Chevrolet car." Featuring four gearsets and five clutches, creative packaging enables the GM-developed eight speed automatic to fit the same space as the six-speed automatic used in the Corvette Stingray. Extensive use of aluminum and even magnesium make it more than eight pounds (4 kg) lighter than the six-speed, as well. Along with design features that reduce friction, the 8L90 is expected to contribute up to five-percent greater efficiency, when compared with a six-speed automatic. The eight-speed automatic will be built at GM's Toledo, Ohio, transmission facility. |

Being how the M4 just also came out. i find my self not really caring to much about that car anymore. its hard to see chevy make a S/C 6.2L V8 600+ HP and be ok with buying a M4 with a 3.0L 6 cylinder. the vette is going to cost more, no doubt. but anyone who can afford a new 75-80k M4 might be able also be able to swing a Z. thats all i am saying! i also understand the M might be more practical, and more luxurious + classy car.
I loved the C6 Z06. this Z06 is just simply a badass car that is going to smoke anything with a AMG, RS, or M badge on it. not to mention that S/C V8 is going to sound pretty dam cool. |
