12 Hours of Sebring

Anyone here going to the 12 Hours of Sebring race in March? I just picked up my BMW Corral tickets. Looking forward to that parade lap, with other fellow BMW owners!

Thinking about it. Do you know where the BMW corral parking is located relative to the track? And how early on sat do we have to be there for parade lap, and are we driving the track during parade?

I don't know exactly where the BMW Corral is located, but it looks like it will be somewhere between turns 1 & 4. From what I can gather, we'll each be driving (not racing, unfortunately) our cars on the track, on Saturday 8:30-10:15am. I'll learn more about this when I get there on Friday 3/18.

This is my first time back to Sebring, since I took a Skip Barber 3-day racing school in '94. My dad used to take me to the 12 Hours of Sebring race when I was a kid, so this will bring back great memories for me.

Go Gators!

Make sure that you get the BMW Car Corral ticket. I have never parked in the Corral before, so maybe someone here has some more information on what else is included or can tell us what to expect.

Just purchased my Saturday only Corral Pass. Looking forward to it. The parade lap for the BMWs is Friday night. I won't be there until early Saturday. I'll miss the parade lap, but should still be a good time. Lady on phone at Sebring says our corral should be right next to party zone and midway.

I did my 3 day school in Sebring in 94, who were your instructors? Mine were Barry Waddel, Jim Pace and Greg Borland. Great fun!! I've done lots of advanced events and races since then and may be there for the 12 hr.

Those were the instructors I had, as well. That school really gets your head into racing. Even now, I still see braking points and apexes. I just got back onto a track in December, when I raced at the Rock the Grid event at PBIR. I almost didn't get out there, because of the rain, but I sucked it up and hit 130 on the backstretch. I would like to see what the M3 can do when the track is dry.

My wife just raced an HOD event at Miami Homestead on Saturday. I think she now "gets" why I pushed for this car over another 335i. There's an event at Sebring the week after the 12 Hr. Tempting. I think it would add more to the experience, having just witnessed the ALMS cars on the track the week before. Either way, I'm really excited about the 12 Hrs of Sebring!

M3Gator, I may not be able to make it up there until after the parade lap, as well. Sucks, but it's good to hear that we're by the party zone! After I load up with beer and food, I'm gonna need all 414bhp to get my car moving. Good times for all.

Let me warn you. Once you drive Sebring in your M3, PBIR isn't nearly as exciting. I was thinking corral, definitely a better spot than prior years (used to be outside T17). But I may just head there for the week, in which case I'll be staying trackside with some track buddies.

Been doing research on this, after hitting yesterday the Rolex Grand AM, and given the fact I had a great time aside from previous years, I'm seriously thinking on checking out Sebring for the first time this year.

Anyone interested in a group/caravan drive up there Saturday early AM?

I'm decided on buying the corral ticket, and getting on the parade lap.

The Bimmerstrasse parade lap is on Friday, at 6:40pm, and is limited to 100 cars. I'm gonna try like hell to make it, but I'm looking forward to a great weekend, either way.

URG8RB8, hope to be there by 8:30 Saturday morning. Look for me in the corral. I'm in a SSII e92 w CF roof with Gator plate, of course.

Any way I can get in for the parade lap??? Looks like you can only do it with a 2 day pass, but I don't want a 2 day lol

edit never-mind....I guess you have to pay for the corral ticket...

M3Gator, sorry but I didn't check the boards before going to the race. I did see your car parked next to the tent, though. The corral was great, and the parade lap was incredible! I didn't expect to hit nearly 100mph coming onto the track! I think it's really cool that the M3s swept the GT class. Unfortunately for me, Friday night wore me out. I got absolutely NO sleep in that tent, so Saturday was cut short. Maybe next year, I'll get a motel room, so I can catch the whole race. It was definitely an experience, though!

By the way, does anyone know if pics were taken of the cars in the Bimmer parade laps? I found a link to parade lap pics from 2010 and before, but nothing is up yet of this year. I think it would be pretty cool to have a shot of each of our cars with a Sebring banner behind it!

I will be there as well with 2 buddies of mine. We have BMW Corral passes and will be there Saturday; not sure yet when we will get there or leave though. We should all set a time and place to meet for lunch!
