How loud?
I did some searching with no luck. So I'm sorry if this has been answered already but I figured I would ask to get the most direct answer
I have a dinan rear section that came on the car when I bought it, a friend owns a shop and said he would build me an x pipe with resonators for a really good price, my only worry is if it's gonna be too loud. Right now I feel like the car isn't loud to begin with, atleast not inside, I know it has some tone outside but I don't think it's too loud. I want more of the exotic/race car sound. I wanna see if anyone else is running the dinan rear catless, is it too loud, does it sound good, or do you have videos? And also to see if anyone thinks I shouldn't remove the cats and have them keep the primaries when they do it Thanks guys! |

Dinan is very tame (at least I think) compared to other options. I heard the OEM perforated mod right next to a Dinan cat-back and the OEM mod was noticeably louder.
If your friend is going to gift you an x-pipe, one with resonators should give more sound and not much increase in drone. You could try doing 4 resonators. Here are some videos of test pipes with Dinan or x pipe and Dinan |

I had dinan rear section with their race x-pipe which is catless with 4 resonators. One of the best sounding setups I ever had. Loved it. Not too loud at all. Very tamed when cruising and sounded very exotic up top when winding it out.

You can tell your friend to move the x closer to gearbox that would give more tq.
I have 2.25'' pipes and would recomend that as its quiet at low reves . No need for bigger diameter if your not planing a supercharger. I have 2 resonators and the sound is race car like just what i wanted. I have OEM mod also. https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=...&v=b2nuu0d10rw go to 1:55 . Akra is 2,37 and its with cats .
The bigger you go then the sound will have more bass i think and i wanted high pitched scream. Live sound of that exhaust its much better than on video. Downshifts are scary for people on street . 7 to 2 or 3 kickownd is brutal . |
