Euro front bumper
so i let my idiot friend drive my car last sat...instead of engaging reverse he put in front and hit the parked car infront of us...damage to front bumper was hardly much but they're asking for $1200. Instead of getting it repaired I thaught this mite be a perfect opportunity to replace it w/ the euro bumper...any thaughts? places to order? experience? etc...
Thanks. |

yah - i've scoured some of the threads and the only ordering info i've seen is from Gasman:
Here's the part number for the Plain Euro Bumper Cover with no PDC and no washers. 51118043960 I got it from Bavarian Autosport (800-535-2002) I'm assuming the part comes primed and you need a workshop to have it painted? Any other sources from where to order from...lemme give Bavarian a call. |

I think they want the front PDC which is not on the US bumpers and also no orange side reflectors!

$600 is not bad.
PDC, is that park distance control (?) Will that work with the existing US park distance control? I was going to change the reflectors only, but if I can get no reflectors and park distance in the front, that'd be awesome! |

$600 is actually a damn good price. Couple hundred for paint and few hundred more for a clear bra and you're golden!

I was just talking to them and pre-painted from the factory is $1300. Not too bad.

I'd rather just have a good body shop just fill the holes and paint them. Be more convenient and economical that way.

Save your money, fix your bumper and have them fill the holes up and it will be perfect. that is what Im doing after winter. A few guys have done this, why spend the extra money!
and front PDC won't work, we dont have sensors, you would just have the holes for pdc? kinda dumb imo

rennspec website is down for maintenance - ghetoooooooo...
This is the reply I've gotten from a very reputable local shop: Revised estimate attached, per physical inspection observations. Should the bumper require replacement, the price would increase by $435, including repair labor cost offset. A request for the price of the Euro bumper (51 11 8 043 958) has been sent to BMW AG, as one has not yet been sold in this market. The price will likely be comparable to the correct bumper. Additional parts may be required. |
