I seen the same Interlagos Blue E92 M3 twice now on RT 80 East to 95 South to 495 into Hoboken. I gave the guy a thumbs up once but thats about it in terms of contact. He has dark tints and smoked taillights. I don't think he has any performance mods because he never wanted to play.

I don't have smoked tail lights. But mine is tinted. I would have played, but the car is no longer street ready. Its setup for autox and the track mostly.

When I mean play I would did a few runs provided the NJSP weren't in the area. I just can't stand when people start doing the weaving in and out between cars as I don't feel like spending the night in the hospital let alone the rest of my life working to pay for someone else medical expenses. What Mods have you done to your car?

I am the same way. I am a little older, so when kids try and pull that crap when I am in my ML63 I just laugh. I definitely used to get it more when in the M3. Mods: Short Shifter, Ram Air intake, AFE race filter, ECU upgrade, UUC Corsa Race Exhaust, Eibach springs, BBS M replica wheels (look like the stock 18's, only a little lighter) with Nitto NT01's, carbon fiber splitter, carbon fiber roof. Waiting for race brakes, strut bars, JW suspension with EDC, harness bar, rear diffuser and CSL style trunk.

wait man on fire...is that you Lou?

your the only guy i know who possesses the ML63/Interlagos M3 combo in Morris County.

I thought you live in the Madison/Florham Park area though?

BTW your exhaust is sick.....but if your real serious about overall sound/performance you have to hear the ASR Sport Full Exhaust. It will scare little children, literally. My buddy has one and I have to say it's seriously one of the best sounding AMEs on the market.

Anyways,
I actually opted for the M6 vert over the 91142 and E93 M3.

it's pretty amazing.

It is, who's this? Chatham and yes, that is still Morris County. I picked the UUC because of the most bang for the buck. Had the highest to the wheel HP rating. Wasn't just looking for sound, plus its almost as light as the titanium exhaust.

hhaha it's Paul, I met you through Amanda.

I had talked to you about the difficult M3 vs. M6 decision back in Novemeber.

I had also wieghed in the Carerra S & 911 Turbo.

The S is nice, although not that much of a upgrade from my E46.

The 911 was rediculous , great power and performance, although a little out of my price range.

My ///M friends hate me for this, but i'm still midly bullish on the new SL63 Vert. It's a fantastic ride. Next year the car should be feasible.

Ah yes. Whats up. I would steer clear of the Mercedes. I've had so many issues with my ML63. Disgusting reallly. The 911 is actually cheaper than the SL63. Especially depending on which way you go. The turbo you can pick up a year old, 115-130. SL63 is like 145 I think.. Depends on what you want it for. The SL is a seriously hot cruiser, the 911 and the M, well, a little more performance driven in my opinion. I don't see too many SL's on the AutoX or Track Circuits. Actually, I've never seen any..

i couldnt agree more with you. Either route I go, I'll being used or cpo.

I've seen 06/07 Turbos in the low 70's to mid 80's - which is my target price point.

I'm still not 100% crazy on the aesthetic aspect of that car. Although bar none,
the performance is probably the best you can get in a production car.

The SL63 has drop dead gorgeous looks, and the re-stlying has made the car look meaner and more agressive then ever. Plus the sound of that V8 is quite toxic. The problem I have has is the high price tag (i've seen used ones in the high 90's low 100's)
and like you had mentioned, the reliability problems. I'm assuming the ML63 problems are enticing you to look at the X6M or X5M?

But anyways For that much money I could get an 05/06 DB9 volante.

As of right now though, an m3 or 07 M6 Vert seems the most feasible.

It funny cause and ML63 could pretty much walk your majority of ricers. Nice mods on your M3 BTW. Did you get a chance to dyno your car with all your mods? I think I finally came to the conclusion I will be going with Kleemann for the ECU reflash on my car. I'll be looking at 510bhp for only $1500 and I can remove the ECU myself and ship it out which would save wasting any money on labor costs. I would like to go to the Kleemann K2 package which adds down pipes and manifold for $4k along with the ECU which provides 560bhp and 515 lbs/ft torque however when I purchased Yankee season ticket package that project got put on hold.

haha if your spending that much money bro, a 911 Turbo, stock, would still eat up an
C63 w/ ECU mods. Wont you be voiding your warranty with the chip? Not a very smart thing to do when owning a benz.

I'm not sure what your talking about. Spending $4k to get a 110bhp gain on a N/A German motor is a simply a great deal, ,not to mention $1500 for a 60bhp gain. Go to post #57 here for details. http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...88#post5106688
Also I would hope a 911 Turbo (997) should kill an C63 with a ECU flash. Your talking about a car double in value. However a stock 996 911 Turbo (http://www.dragtimes.com/Porsche-911...lip-10693.html) on the other hand will have a problem considering many C63 owners with ECU's reflashed are achieving quarter mile times in the high 11's. Also the ECU upgrades are not detectable as per the Kleemann NA rep. Aside from me telling the dealer upfront or placing Kleemann badges on my car no dealer is going to be able to detect it. Also like BMW dealers believe it or not there are a few mod friendly MB dealers in the area, just not North Jersey.

My ML63 is quick as snot, but its a fat lady. Bear in mind, that out of the three cars you've mentioned above, M3, C63 and 997 Turbo, the only one thats really a drag car is the C63. I've never seen ANY mercedes at any AutoCross, ever. I've seen tons of M's and porsches. I dyno'd the car last fall and was at 373 at the wheels. A nice little 30bhp bump. Still have a lot to do. I am focusing more on the suspension at this point since the car doesn't have adjustable suspension, that is the next upgrade.

No I agree a C63 is best suited for the drag strip. I'm not surprise you don't see any of them at AutoCross. I don't have blinders on and I am not ashame to admit the M's are superior in handling. I just removed my charcoal filter's on the intake to my car. Vadim on the MB boards showed dyno proof of a 18RWP gain by this simple delete. Where is that Autocross event? I would like to just come watch one day see all the cars on the track.

another car i've been weighing heavily is the RS5. Specs finally came out: powered by the remarkable 4.2 FSI V8 pumping out 450 HP and 332lbft of torque. It will also be offered as a vert model, carrying a price tag in the 90Ks.

Can't wait till more details come out about this monster.

I tavel to most of the east coast events. I was up in Mass this past weekend at Ft. Devens. This weekend is Englishtown, next is englishtown, then Philly, then DC, then Millville for a track day, then back up to Mass. Its a crazy schedule.

I drove the S5 for the little lady and was not at all impressed. I hope the RS5 rendition is much better. The car is pretty, but its a fat, fat, fat lady..

Exactly my experience with the S5.

The RS4 however is another story... not as fast as the M3 but has many of the things I like - high revving engine, awesome V8 soundtrack, and a nice clicky manual transmission. I hope the RS5 will be in a similar vein but I just don't understand why Audi is trying to price RS models well over a corresponding M.
