At 60mph, dynamic pressure is about 0.069psi, which is about a 0.5% gain over standard atmosphere. If an inlet system would be able to recuperate 100% of the dynamic pressure gain, this would equate to 2hp on the M3. Doing the math for 100mph and 150mph equates to 5hp and 11hp respectively. Obviously not significant gains for street use.

Further, the way the scoops are designed, they will only recuperate a portion of the dynamic pressure. Even further, as stated in the other thread you quoted, the M3 airbox is an open design (IMO to use the ram effect to avoid heat soak), so scoops would not yield any gains at all.

Buy them for looks and don't expect performance.

This is spot on. The gains would be negligible even IF the air box was sealed. Since it is not, there are no gains. It is not sealed to avoid heat soak.

Scoops = Useless

Not worth spending any money on it or an intake. Drop in filter (if you have the restrictive one from earlier years) or leave stock and call it a day.

Main power gainer on these cars is primary cats + software.

As tech said, they look cool and it's fun to pretend they work

Waste of money in my opinion.

You got an 11 so you are fine.

As for scoops, not only do I know they are worthless, but I think they look silly too. This is just IMO of course, but having 2 red scoops behind kidney grilles look terrible.
