I was worrying the DCT won't be out along with the M3 in the state and I'll need to pass my slot to wait for the DCT!!

Pessimism, However all this information sounds good, and I hope it is true, the The Transmission may not be ready, but they are trying hard for March No Jan-March Production slots are currently slotted for M-3 verts, January starts the test Us production and continues through the end of Feb, early March for first customer spec build US coupes. I have to doubt highly the availability of verts at launch, in fact based on current sales, the convertables are sold out based on many dealers allocations until well into the 08 Year. I know everyone's excited but lets wait for the official info Or at least from the Germans !

Sources
Through a racing friend and writer
I was in Spain for the Press launch, I like Woodward do not give up my sources. The US Production Schedule is already in BMWs planning for product delivery, test coupes in late January, then Dealer launch vehicles a few customer spec cars, in March/ April Now the 135 is scheduled in the same time frame, no build dates for the M-3 Sedan are on the Schedule, however BMW is moving some production around. The 335 Convertable is sold out for quite a while. I not trying to show you how big my wheelbase is, but the other post doesnt match, I'll throw a lunch in at the BMW casino or dinner at Octoberfest if I am wrong ! THe 135 coupe brochure is out at the German dealers, delivery in September time frame in conjunction with the Frankfurt autoshow, I am pointing out that advertising vehicle photos are shot way before the real release happens. The Production Schedule, which is pretty much set in stone so the suppliers can deliver parts has been ery reliable for the last 12 Months I was told I would be picking up my M-3 coupe in March and at about the same time a 135. I will driving an M-3 at the ring in September and likely a 135i as well Enjoy driving

What I have learned is that M DCT is on schedule to be available from March 2008 , So far there has been no serious issues or delays to compromise the introduction . As of the M3 press launch there were only official answers that were misleading to the actual facts that we could give out to people in Spain.

Are you not the same guy

and DSG/DCT in March but you may get your "US" Spec car in August ? Also that the Sunroof defeats the M's purpose ? Come on, the US "Vin" Build dates start in January on the production schedule Maybe you do contract work for their Ad agency, "I was in Austin 2 weeks ago" and if you do they may hang you for these posts BMW has and always will be driven by the Germans, they are production sensitive and very much driven by JIT production. I love some of your imagination, I still have the bet where I buy lunch at the BMW casino or Octoberfest if you are right. If It happens I will buy, if it doesnt you must drive a Daihatsu around Texas on a road trip

Ok, I realize I run the risk of adding fuel to a fire but... I went to pick up the mail today (sunday) and got a letter (hand written) from my dealer stating he received word from BMW that the new M3 will be a 2009 model and scheduled for launch in fall of 2008. The letter was dated 7/10. I have not spoken to him for details, maybe he is confused about the e90 vs e92. All we heard so far is that the e90 will be launched fall 2008 not the e92. I am still betting Scott is right but this is a little odd...

Yes USA. I have a deposit on an e92 M3 at this dealership. I will drop him a line and get clarification. However, if you think about that would truly be a simultaneous launch (e92/cab/e90) for fall 2008. But your right something seems a miss here....

SO I take it

Convertable will be launched along with the coupe for the US Market in March 08 ? Or how about the availability of the DCT or the Sunroof availability on the coupe. I sent your posts to a senior planner at BMW Munich, who asked where this nonsense came from Bets out there, try taking it You have contradicted yourself as you posted "BMW want a simultanious introduction for both The M3 Cabrio and ZSG and Manual Transmission for the North American/Canadian market. That is why The M3 goes on sale in Spring 2008 so both variants and gearbox choices are available." "This will be followed by a similar pattern of the BMW 1er Coupe and Cabrio making it's introduction to the North American/Canadian market " I hope you enjoy yourself, I'll even get us lunch at Porsches Casino in Zuffenhausen.......................... So you posted that both variants of Both the M3 and the new 1 will be introduced in Spring 08 as well as both trannies ? Maybe we met in Spain

release schedule?
"Autozeitung" and "Auto Motor und Sport" quotet in their last issues the following release schedule for the M3 variants:
1. M3 E92 Coupé 2. M3 E90 Sedan 3. M3 E93 Convertible Sedan release differs between End of 2007 (Autozeitung) and March 2008 ( Auto Motor und Sport) Convertible between Geneva 2008 (Autozeitung) and June 2008 (auto Motor und Sport) I think both meen German/Europian release dates..... greetings Uli |

Breaking my little self imposed "stay away from M3 speculations until euro release" rule. Dont know who's info is more accurate etc.. But concerned about the DCT Transmission info. If its going to be later, IE: a year or more (stateside) I may have to look elsewhere.
So I'll kick it up as well. ... LOL It better not be... If that ever was the case, Im walking.. |
