Default Drivelogic settings in DCT

Just picked up my 2011 M3 Coupe with DCT yesterday and have a question. My car starts out in S3, no matter what mode I last used. It always starts in D5 once I select D mode. Is there a way of setting the sequential mode? Other than the M button, of course. Thanks in advance. I did search the manuals without success.

Had the same issue. After trying different things without much success, now I use the M button.

You can program the EDC settings and the Power settings in the M-Drive sub-menu for the particular key you're using.

I'm pretty sure you can't program the default startup from the set values of S3 or D5. It's a little annoying but that's why you have the M button.

Thanks. I'll just use the M button.

While it always starts in S3 it seems to me it remembers the D setting because mine is always D4.

Yes, that's the way it is. Sort of sucks though. While I initially programed my M button for the daily driver modes I most prefer, I now just give the DCT selector a tap or two and keep the M button for more aggressive set up options.

It's not a deal breaker, and it's simply a "nice to have" item, but with the number of drivelogic settings, EDC, and throttle settings, it sure would be nice to be able to set the default start settings and have the M button on top of that. I'd like to have the car start in my "normal driving mode" and then have the M button for more aggressive settings. And of course, that should be specific to each key as well.

I guess I'm just spoiled by being able to define how my desktop look and is configured on boot and want that for the M3. Pretty silly I guess, but it would be a nice feature to go along with the other "Tech Package" goodies...For now I just use the M button to get around it.

I agree with others, while not the end of the world, it is frustrating that a factory default can not be over ridden by a key setting for drivers who know what they want. I mean afterall, this car does have like 500 customizable settings...why not allow customization of quite possibly the most impactful setting of them all on your driving?

Anyone with a post Sept 2011 build (the so called 2011.5) that has read this thread and can confirm their car acts this way as well, starting in S3 only and not allowing a default to be programmed by the key?

I pick mine up next Friday and will confirm either way.

I wonder if this (S mode always starting @ S3) is something a bit of custom coding can address...? Mike@Powerchip, are you reading this??

Confirmed- 11.5 (Oct 2010) build on power up dct is in s3 and is not key programable. I think it remembers the last d setting used if I tap right, but don't recall for sure I've only leet her shift for me once or twice.

Would be nice to change this. The "master coders" out there may crack this someday? Wishful thinking probably

This use to bother me at first, but in the end I guess you just get use to it.

When you think about it though, it is annoying that everything is so customizable, yet you can't get the settings you want.
