4 doors are not cool.
the very fact it has 4 doors is contradictory to a sports car. i.e. making a compromise for the sake of ppl with families.. the M3 should not be about compromise. + there will be 2 completely different cars on the road with M3 badges! e90 e92... that will ruin the M3 brand IMO. god forbid they release a touring!

Seriously what difference does it make if they offer the 4-dr as well? I already have a 4-dr 330i, so I will be buying the 2-dr coupe for sure. They can make whatever else they want as long as they come through with the 2-dr!

Good debate
I think it is a reasonable debate and a good one to have 2dr vs. 4dr. Personally I would only buy the 2dr. However, to compete directly against RS having 4 doors is better. 4dr is a nice comprimise as well, sport + capacity + convenience. Personally I agree though that 4 doors is a bit uncool. I would be willing to bet that BWM will release the 4dr M3 in the US. Europe will get the touring as well as the 4dr. They will release what will make $ and the 4dr E36 M3 was a good seller in the US. This does not really explain the lack of a 4dr E46 M3 though.

Enough debate................ALPINE where's my PSHOP!!!!!
And Manz...... you wanker- the M3 coupe still has 4 seats so technically a family can still fit. In fact I just passed an E46M3 the other day with a 3yr old and car seat in the back.......not very "pure" sports coupe looking at all............... If you want a "purist" coupe get the CSL save some weight and take out the back seats............... |

I've read that to be true, Chris Harris mentioned it in his Autocar column last year. I'm getting an E36 saloon for that reason. S'only a 320i though, but I'm only 21/22.

I guess you could also say that real sports cars don't have heated seats and wood trim also.
