NEED HELP w/ FITMENT - URGENT !
hey guys,
Okay so here's the situation, I was on my way home from work and unfortunately got a flat tire on the freeway, so I had my car towed to the nearest BMW dealer. Anyway, rather than getting the factory tire- Michelin PS2 (which happen to be a summer tire) for the stock 19's I decided to get a set of four all season Michelin tires AS+ for my AC Schnitzer 2 piece Race Type III's which are 18x 8.5 et15/9.5 et21.5 (I live in VA and it snows, I figured it's probably the most economical thing to do) I did some research and saw that some owners have actually run fitment similar to this setup. Long story short, according to the BMW tech, apparently the AC's don't fit because they don't clear the brakes.. I haven't seen the car yet so its hard to say how it doesn't fit. My guess is that the face might be 17's and with the stepped lip being about 1" they're considered 18's, I'm not sure.. Basically, I'm pretty much stuck with the tires, so I'm really hopeful that this issue can be resolved with the use of spacers or something.. Any advice or insight on this dilemma would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. |

If you have stock brakes, it's hard to imagine the barrel of the wheel being too small to clear. And with a 15 offset, I would not have guessed a problem clearing the face of the caliper. If the problem is the latter, a spacer should cure it, but you will have an extremely low offset wheel.

I agree with elh0102. I'd be very surprised if the caliper is hitting the inside face of the wheel center. Looking at the multiple steps in the pictures of the barrel it looks like the minimum ID is located where the stock caliper sits so the interference is probably between the caliper and barrel.
Either way I don't think you'll be able to address the interference. If the interference is with the wheel face your offsets are already pretty aggressive so, at most, you might be able to fit a 3 mm spacer (unless you have camber plates and dial in a lot of camber) but 3 mm isn't much thicker than a nickel. If the interference is with the barrel then there's nothing you can do. Good luck! |

Just wanna follow up with everyone, it turns out that the inner barrel steps inwards so it measure to be about 16" which is too small to accommodate the M3 brakes. Thanks for the help guys I'm putting the stock 19's on with Continental DWS 285/35
