Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Position

Anybody have any feedback on these?

It's the RE050A Pole Positions replacement and the Michelin PSS competitor.

Supposed to be a great tire. I am personally a big fan of their tires, no disappointment yet. I loved the RE050a PP's along with the old S03's.

Given that they are almost identical in price to the Michelin Pilot Super Sport, I would personally go that route. The PSS was developed by Michelin in conjunction with BMW M, Merc AMG and Ferrari. I think the Pilot Sport PS2 was generally regarded as better than the Potenza RE050 Pole Position. If these two new tires are the successors, my bet is the PSS will maintain or increase the performance gap and be the better overall tire.

If the Bridgestone was way less money (like, say, the Continental Extreme Contact DW) then it may be a good value proposition but seeing as it is almost the same price, my money would be on the PSS.

Having said all of that, no one really knows yet as there have not been any comparison tests that have been done. In the end, I bet they will BOTH be great tires.

I have used the PS, S-03, and PS2 on my old E36 M3. All were great tires. Bridgestone tires seem to ride a little harsher when compared to Michelin. They also ran wider as well. There is about a $300 difference in price between the S-04 and PS2 (for 19" OEM wheels/sizes) on Tire Rack.

The PS2 are actually priced higher than the PSS. The PSS is not currently available in 265/35 rears but all reports are this size will be available soon. However, 255/35 front and 275/35 rears for the PSS are only $10 more than the S-04 on Tirerack. In any event, I'm sure the S-04 and PSS will both be great tires.

Gthal - Thanks for the information. Hopefully the 245/35/19 and 265/35/19 will be available soon. I prefer to stick to the OEM tire size.

Supposedly Tire Rack is about to test the S04. Hopefully this will happen soon.
