ZCP or not....

I would rather have a flame throwing, sand-blasting, snow plowing combine.

I avoided ZCP and installed a superior Dinan suspension and RAC RG63 wheels as soon as I took delivery. This is ten times better than the comp package. But it also cost over $5k.

no zcp please
for the extra cost you get non-forged rims which are cheaper for bmw to purchase (albeit better lookin' imo), so you should be saving
instead of spending more on those.
According to Turner Motorsports, 220 wheels are 2,983.32, 359 wheels are 2046.00. = $937 in potential savings.
So whatever the zcp package costs, add about $1K to it because that's what you are really paying because of the cheaper rims you are getting.
just a thought for those in the market.
$1K will definitely help with the rim, kwv3 and exhaust upgrades

That would be implying extremes, so the short answer is no, but there must be an element of entertainment involved, wouldn't go as far as to say they would lie but you do get some other facts (some more important than others) left out.

+1, I never planned on modding my car, so for me it was well worth the extra coin for a factory lowered vehilce with warranty and with the wheels that I wanted. Don't really care if it's a milli-second slow or faster.

I'd do it, but have the ZCP wheels powdercoated gunmetal or black.

I'm jealous. I would have done the exact same thing if I had pulled the trigger on the e92 in time to get in on the RAC group buy. Since I didn't I just opted for the comp package and let it go at that. But I wish you had said your set up was only twice as good, and not ten times as good, since your mods cost about three times more than the comp package after EDC.

I had RAC's and Dinan Stage 3 suspension on my e46. I truly, truly miss the RAC wheels. They are amazing.

I think the spectrum of answers helped here. If you like the wheels and want EDC, then ZCP is a good deal. But if you don't want EDC and 18s are what you need, then save yourself money and get a great non ZCP M3.

I respect JC's opinion so much that after I watched the episode I immediately called my dealer and got them to order me a non-ZCP sedan just like mine. Soon as my new car arrives I will be trading in my ZCP.

If you are going to order EDC, getting the ZCP option is a no-brainer (..like many have stated). I like the 359's more than the 220's, and the resale of the wheels alone (..providing that they are in excellent condition) is 2/3rds of what you paid for the entire package. ZCP = WIN!

Even if you don't like the ZCP wheels but want the rest of it, you can safely sell the ZCP rims here and buy a set of 18" items.

Lowered suspension will cost well over $1k installed. And altered "Sport" mode on EDC you simply cannot get otherwise.

As a matter of fact, my RG63s are an e46 fitment. I wanted 18 inch wheels and the e9x fitment of RG63s is 19 inch. I have to run a 15mm spacer in the front to get the offset I want.

There are 19 inch RG63s offered in the for sale section fairly often.

I believe you might have the ideology backwards; the Honda Civic M3 mentality is a result of a false sense of superiority over fellow M3 owners, due to a "ZCP" package purchase.

The phrase I'm believe you were getting at was "ricing out" a car, which would be the end result of how someone has modified their vehicle.

One could also be a ricer, in which you drive like a d-bag, in a riced out car

What ever the opposite Jeremy Clarkson says is the right thing...remember didn't he say "M3 drivers have no friends". He from day one never liked the M3 and he doesn't like Porshces as well. Right there I wouldn't give him any say in the cars I choose.
