!!!!! M-DCT / M-DKG is here !!!!!

EDIT:

OFFICIAL TECH INFO ON M-DCT from BMW!
http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=107582

Photographic proof here from BMW --
http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=107069

Got a call from my dealer today: M-DCT is can be ordered from now on and is available for delivery mid March!
Of course, my delivery is exactly then I'll be one of the first having DCT. I really hope it works and it's not a disappointment...

One more thing: the price tag on M-DCT is a big one: CHF 5700.- (which is about USD 5000)

Anyone else going blindly for DCT?

I probably am. But I would like if you could perhaps get some form of concrete evidence of that. Considering the average amount of dealer knowledge I'm surprised you heard it from them first before it showed up here before any form of spy pics or BMW press release on the technology.

He didn't say he knew something about it, just that it popped up in the dealer ordering system. It can now be selected as an option like EDC and other stuff.

And: There is a price tag. So this is far more believable than M3's ever getting to the US... ;-)

I couldn´t believe this at all - would be very good news for me but thats must meen M-DCT debut on NAIAS 2008 Jan.08 in Detroit...what I don´t beleave before I see it.

From my stand of information M-DCT doesn´t come before May / June together with the E93 M3 sales start with debut Geneva March 2008

I really hope this is true. To be honest, I wouldn't mind it too much if BMW had to withhold the M3's US official pricing and launch date announcement even further as long as they are able to launch the car in the US with two transmission options. Keeping both fingers crossed on this one... mmm M-DCT.

I couldn't find it on the BMW car konfigurator, so I don't believe it.

He said it was the dealer car configurator site which would surely be more up to date than the one on the BMW wedsite.

Got pics of a printout or the screen itself? Anybody?

Fairly huge news if this can be confirmed.

I will ask for an order confirmation. Anyway, price tag and delivery date is pretty convincing for me.

price

M-DCT people: Are you willing to pay 5k for DCT?

I will, but if it was even more, I would have gone with manual.

Should be around €3.500,-- when I remember right...it´s not too much more than the SMG price tag...I would order it when it was avaible so early

Right, right. I'm just saying, if you can prove it, you can make internet-wide news. Would be good traffic for the site, not to mention make a lot of readers very happy. Get some pics, Jason will sticky the thread, and we can forward it on to Autoblog.

This is huge news!!

I can't wait to hear more about this in the coming days!

Now I know I can get my M3 this July - this makes my day!

That opinion has been the same as mine as well... only a manual 6-Speed M3 in the USA could be a sales disappointment, specially with the Sedan and the Convertible which I think will sell more each than the Coupe. Things have changed a lot since 2001 in this segment...

Even if it's available in Europe, there's a good chance it will be delayed in the US.

Agreed Greg, but it would still be possible for it to hit at US launch or very soon after (ie. pre MY09).

Sedan - yes. Convertible - that one I doubt strongly. 335i sedan outsells the coupe, but I believe the coupe outsells the convertible by 50% or so.

It was only a matter of time before they confirmed MDCT. 5K does seem a little high though. Personally i would pay for it.

Called my dealer and asked him if the M-DCT was in the BMW Dealer-Konfigurator...first he told me that he had heard so...I asked him to take a look and tell me the price...and he was surpriced that it wasn´t in the konfigurator ...but I think we all had a good chance that the M-DCT deduts earlier than expected...

Price: He told me he had heard about € 2.800,-- that would be much cheaper as aspected.......

Maybe the people responsible for the maintenance of the German ordering system are still on holiday...

I think this will clear up in the next 1 or 2 weeks.
