I may join up... depending on whether the husband doesn't have other plans already. Guess I could leave him at home to rebuild his E36 too! I live in Parker though, so I'd just meet straight at the Shell in CR.

It was a good drive... except for pulling over on the side of the road to wait for someone and attracting the attention of The Law. Luckily he let us go (front plateless and all!)
Thanks for posting this notice over here Gladius - and good to meet you. If you want to "try before you buy" on the iDrive conversion, let me know. It's a pretty much plug & play after you get the console cover up. Oh - and! Your exhaust sounds niiiice. nom nom nom.... Husband has UUC on his E36 and it's crazy loud (something to do with missing cats I'm sure).

Just curious... how many of you in CO are running with no front plate? I'm "plateless", but constantly wondering when a bored cop is going to pull me over.

Never been pulled while moving...
My local beat cop has ticketed me 6 times in the past 5 years (same guy), while my car is parked in front of my house.
Gotta love that one!

I was pulled over for speeding about a year ago. After the cop got done caressing my car, he left it at that - he didn't even mention the front plate or the darker tint. I'm convinced the city/county of Denver has some sort of agenda though. I always park in a lot now b/c I've had 3 tickets in a year parking at meters. Haven't had the same issue in other cities though... All that said, my husband got pulled over for not having a front plate on his E36 M3 in Parker the day after he registered it. He ended up getting out of it because he'd just driven the car here from TN. I think it really does depend on how bored the cop is.

I've gotten ticketed many times in downtown Denver and CC, FYI they are now the $75 variety ticket. I did get pulled over twice by cops with a pissy attitude and nothing better to do only for not having a font plate. Once was in Denver and once on 25.

Never been pulled over or ticketed for no plate. Had no front plate on this car nor the previous 2. Boulder is notorious for ticketing at parking meters for it, but I haven't had any issues yet.

Just solely for no front plate. Ouch. That's what concerns me going out on a Fri or Sat night.

No front plate at my house: Yeah, they were DPD protecting the public safety...I imagine this a$$hole had a quota or really slow period.
Meter Maids: You realize that our lovely Denver meter maids are indeed a private company that is RFP'd and contracted out by the city to generate revenue. They are paid a commission (percentage) on all the (lame ass) non-moving tickets that they write, no matter what the offense. Same scam as the mobile traffic speed camera van's! Anything for a buck...has NOTHING to do with public safety, it's all about the revenue for the city (thanks Hickenlooper!) Quote:

I remember when Hickenlooper first ran for mayor, he had an ad of him walking around LoDo feeding meters, saying parking is too expensive and it hurts business. Maybe after divesting himself of the Wyncoop he became less attached to that ideal.
You think as gov he'll work to repeal the front plate law? I'd settle for raising the speed limits on the wide open highways across empty plains. |
