High speed vibration on brand new tires (PSS)

Hey Guys,

I realize this is the M3 forum and I have a 335i, but I know a lot of you have some great technical knowledge, so I thought I would post this here.

Today I had Pilot Super Sports installed on my '09 335i (Tread Quarters did the install). So tonight, I took the car on a bit of a high speed run just to see how the tires felt. It was on an empty highway, straight, no curves at all, no traffic - so please don't yell at me about the speed lol.

When I got to around 80, I noticed a bit of a vibration in the steering wheel. It kind of disappeared until I hit about 110, at which point it showed up again. I slowed to around 80 again, vibration still there. I did this run about 4 times just to see. I should note that braking did not make the vibration any worse, different, etc.

The tires probably have 25 miles on them. Is this normal during break-in, or could there be a problem?

Thanks for any advice!!

They were balanced, but who knows how well Tread Quarters did it. When the tech came out and just sort of looked at my tires with a sheepish look on his face, I should have taken it as a sign. I'll just eat the money and go to my local independent and have them re-balanced. Thanks guys!

+1 and see if they let you watch them while they balance it so you can see if there are any wheel bends and how much out-of-balance each corner is

I dont know where in VA you are but if you are northern then go to Curry's Auto (they have locations all over)
They have the road force balancer.

If its not road force balanced, its NOT BALANCED right.

I had an 80mph vibration after my last tire install. Took it to another shop and got it road forced, problem fixed.
