Question about replacing EDC module

So I suspect my EDC module of being a parasitic drain and the cause of the increased discharge/low battery charge messages I've been getting lately (already checked battery and alternator).

I have '09 e90 with a production date of 4/2009, and I know that the EDC module part number was revised from 37156785193 to 37156788790 in 03/2008. I can't seem to find a used example of the updated part for sale anywhere online, is it possible that the module with the earlier part number is interchangeable and would work the same after being coded?

Before throwing a module at it make sure the module is the culprit.

Do a parasitic draw test. After turning the vehicle off allow 10 or 20 mins to allow the car to shut down. You will be able to watch the draw drop as the vehicle is shutting down. After the draw is steady you shouldn't see a draw over 50 milliamps.

If you do have a high draw, then unplug the EDC module. If the draw drops immediately then you know that is the problem. If you still have a high draw then the module isn't the problem.

Thanks for the wise advice Jobe. I definitely was jumping the gun thinking it was the EDC module.

Ende up just needing a new battery (originally had AutoZone test it and say it was fine, but they were wrong). Anyone else having strange electrical problems (my cruise control would intermittently stop working completely) should first change their battery!
