Whew!!!

Just keep an eye out on the lead. It looks ok, but not that great as it's above average and in double digits.

I stick the label right on the black bottle. I tell them that it's a non-hazardous liquid and it costs me $2.41 (1st class parcel).

Here is my latest one. It looks much better and I don't know why. I have been putting more miles, track, and canyon time on it than ever before. Even with more miles on the sample, the bearing metals are down by 1/3.

Hmmm so I'm thinking this is not a great report?

Yes, that lead is very high. About 5x the average. The copper is not bad. If you haven't been using leaded race gas, you need to be concerned.

I was in roughly the same boat as you. When I bought mine, the PO had done three 15K mile oil changes. When I changed it the next time, 7800 miles later, the lead and copper were high. I have continued that oil change schedule and they have been coming down (the record of my analyses is posted above).

I'm not sure what this means relative to whether the bearings need to be replaced though. Is it a case of "the damage has been done"? Not sure.

I also just bought the same Red and Blue bearings with the WPC treatment from the group buy (M3Dragon) that was happening all of 10 minutes (Mods decided to take it down shortly after )

They will be going in next year, along with all the other stuff I bought (read sig).

There is no rule against shipping used motor oil in this quantity through the USPS, but some attendants are clueless.
Another idea for everyone: After you put everything back in the black bottle, you can put the black bottle into the original packaging that it was sent in. You know, the white bag/package thingy. I went to local shipping center and asked them to send it two day fed ex and they dropped it in a fedex envelope. Since it wasn't a bottle they asked no questions.

2008 BMW M3: 53,XXX mi

Info
Vehicle: 2008 BMW M3, 6MT
Production Date: 05/08
Oil Used: TWS Motorsport 10W-60, 7500mi intervals
Mileage: 53,XXX mi
Fuel: 91 Oct
Driving Habits: Mostly highway/street driving, no track use
Oil Analysis: None provided

Notes:
This particular M3 was fully serviced under scheduled maintenance and meticulously followed thereafter with oil changes every 7500mi.

Here's a recent inspection on a 2008 M3 with ~53K that came in. When engine was warm, a "knock" was heard at 3500+ RPM. Upon inspection of #5 journal, the bearings were discovered to be in terrible condition:

Crank also shows severe damage, engine will need to be pulled and crank/bearings replaced. With this much damage on the journal, there's really no need to inspect the others. Higher resolution photos can be found here on our Flickr page.

Engine is relatively stock other than aftermarket exhaust, vehicle has never been tracked. An oil sample has been sent simply to see what numbers are present in this type of situation.

We'll update the thread as soon as the results are received.

Blackstone report attached. Obvious high lead/copper readings:

Interesting that no contaminants were found since we were picking bearing fragments from the oil pan after removal.

Makes you start to think how you can dump it off a cliff and turn it in on insurance.
