535xi
I was looking for an e90 m3 on the m3post to trade my e92 for but couldn't find anything...however my dealer has a 2010 535xi w/ a 6 spd. available and equipped the way i'd like it to be for a good price...should i trade my M...the reason for trading is that I'm going to be in boston for college...and i need somethng a little bigger, and the all wheel drive helps in the winter time...and for a little fun with this thing...i'm going to add the PES tt35 chip to get about 395hp...and 460ft/lb of torque...idk gimme advice fellow m3posters...
-or- there's a 335xi w/ a 6spd availble coupe |

Skip the 5 series keep that for your later days. If you want to stick to Bmw go buy a used M coupe 25-26K.

Regular (not M) 5 series? And you have an e92 M3 now?
Don't do it dude! Next thing your know you'll be sittin' on your porch yellin' at kids to get off your lawn. Damn kids, get off my lawn! Nothing wrong with a 5 series, but it's the kind of car my dad would drive as it's "nice and convervative". I should note my dad is 87 years old too (really). I have a 535xiT and an M3 and can honestly say they are completely different. Yah, I know... it's a "wagon" - but the biggest difference is that the 5 is a "utility" car - comfortable and smooth - where the M is pure fun with every RPM.
Smiles vs. Comfort in my opinion. Keep the M.

I recommend you do not as you will be sorry. I just traded in my 535i for an M3 and the 5 is nowhere as sporty. The handling, steering, engine are just not comparable. The 5 has a very comfortable ride, is very quiet and the engine has good torque but honestly I was very bored. Keep the M

I completely agree with you guys. I have about a year left on my lease...i'm seriously considering just waiting till it's up and then getting an e90 m, s4, or sti...something that'll be a bit more practical. Anyways, this is the wrong question to post here...but i have an meisterschaft gt2 on my e92...if i were to get an e90...is there anyway to cut it and retrofit on the e90? but i just wanted to know

I just spoke with my dealer...and he told me that he has a 2009 335xi coupe silver/ w red interior 6 speed loaded to the max for a really good deal...i'm trying to be more practical as I am starting college next year, and don't know how the snowy days in Boston will be. IDK hit me up with insight bout that 335xi...also my friend is selling his PES tuning tt-35 chip from his 335xi...which is pretty beast..might consider getting it. I raced him from 2nd gear 4k rpm in my m3 with the chip, and he beat me by a hair...with the 6 speed i'm sure it cud work wonders.

I just traded up from an E90 335i (with Turbo controller) to an E92 M3 . I LOVED the 335, but it does not compare to the M3. The 335 actually feels lighter and more nimble at lower speeds / less aggressive driving, but when the driving gets a bit spirited, the M3 really shines! In terms of space... while the E90 is easier to get in and out of in the back, I find that both the E90 and E92 have about the same amount of space. In fact my golf clubs fit easier in the E92 trunk than they did in the E90 - I was surprised!!
Also - just moved from NJ to CA. Last winter SUCKED!!! I had to buy a dedicated set of winter wheels/tires for the 335 just to get around (BTW: wasn't bad in the snow with dedicated winter tires). North East - I would definitely get the X!!! So...IMHO - for me, the E92 M3 would still win the day... get a dedicated set of tires for winter and you are good to go... Cheers, Blaster... |

So, don't let the dealer "sell you" on the XI as being "required" for winter driving or being a "good deal". He/she is doing what they do--sell--and trying to make a buck off you. (Yeah, "good deal" for the dealership and sales person.) Aside from not providing the dealer with more $, keep the better car and you win twice. |

I have my set of Winters for my old 335i. They are 235 /40 all around. Continental top of the line winters, with 5 spoke brushed aluminum rims...
Originally paid $1300 for them - used them for 1 winter (about 2000 Miles). Selling for $600 (You source and pay for shipping from San Diego) They will fit your M3, but are narrower than stock (I think they are 19'). My opinion is that narrower is better in the snow... Send me a personal note if you are interested... I can send Photos and additional specs Blaster... |

I wouldn't go the 5 series route, mainly because the new ones will be released very soon. But that's just me. I wouldn't want my brand new car to look outdated.

I recently traded in my 2007 530xi (steptronic) for a new 2008 M3 sedan (6 speed manual).
What a difference! Whereas I was terribly bored with my 5 series, I have a perpetual grin on my face every time I drive my M3! |

Just get some snows and be done with it, don't trade your car on a whim. You will end up driving something inferior and blow a ton of money/equity doing it.
