Strange Carfax History

http://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistory...&partner=ATD_U

Anyone ever see a Carfax like this? Its a 2011 and the first record of the car show it being recently sold at auction a few weeks ago with 2,198 miles on it. Doesn't even show any previous owners. Would this be some form or BMW corporate owned car or demo or something?

I'm not really considering buying it, but I thought it was odd and never seen anything like it.

FYI this means it came from the PC test track in South Carolina. How much it was beat on or potentially damaged is anyone's guess, but they are refurbished at the factory (or so I have heard).

Is the car CPO? I heard that they would not allow that for the PC cars, but I could be mistaken.

No, it doesn't appear to by a CPO. What does "PC" stand for and what do they use the test track for?

I see manufacturer's auction cars all the time at pacific bmw,

Check out these cars and their carfax reports:

They often come in unusual color combinations, usually in fully loaded. They could be performance center cars, picture cars, exec cars, demos,,, or whatever BMW NA used them for. Then they're sold relatively new at auctions (usually to bmw dealers) and sold to customers.

that means the car was never sold to a retail customer. it always remained in dealer or corporate ownership. With that many miles, as others have said, it's plausible it was used at the SC Performance Center, or it could have been used on and off as a corporate/dealership toy, demo, or weekend car.

For 2000 miles, and the fact it's a E93, I think it's a demo/weekend car. I wasn't aware Performance Center had E93s.

Under what conditions would it not be required to be titled or registered? I would think that even if it was owned by BMW, they would have to register or title it if they were going to be driving it around on public streets for a few years.

Often times they use their Manufacturer plates. This way they wouldn't have to register cars.

And of course, performance center cars wouldn't need plates

There are plenty of cars out there never registered or titled. Good eye noticing it was strange on the car fax.

PC Track cars have disclosures, your dealer can easily provide that information to any potential buyer you just have to ask for it. As the dealers have the ability to check service records for any BMW and in this case if the vehicle was serviced at the performance center it's a definite that the vehicle was used on the PC track. FYI not all manufacturer cars are the Performance center, a lot of BMW executives get demos thru BMW and vast majority of these cars are called executive demos.

It says this car is a convertible, from what I remember while there I've never seen a convertible PC car.
