Thanks
Thanks!

The JRZ suspension is what allows such a wide rim and tire. The size of the damper plus where the spring perch sits all come together in a way that it works. I do use a 3mm spacer because, while it technically does fit without it, the clearance to the spring perch was less than 1mm. JRZ said I need at least 2 mm for wheel and hub flex. As far as camber, I just max out the camber at the track on my Vorshlag camber plates. And I remove the camber before I leave the track so I don't trash my street tires. Other than that, there's nothing unique about the setup--no body work.

I love the 295 square setup. That's the ultimate setup for me. The car has SERIOUS grip in the front and rear. But it's not blocky or weird.

By the way, the tires were on their 6th day. They weren't fresh at all. I'm looking forward to getting out there one day with some fresh rubber. That should be interesting.

Yeah man! That was a fun day! You were definitely pushing those PSS tires past their melting point! It was dang hot out there.

Next time you need to be out there with RS-3's, quality brake fluid and some dedicated track pads in those Stop Techs! C'mon man----You can do the pad switch!!!

Ah, that makes sense, also had no idea the JRZ would make such a big difference. I could've imagined some difference, but that's awesome. looking forward to what you do with fresh tires and that setup (post videos!).

thanks for the info.

Nice!! Was there yesterday. The heat definitely played a role in slowing us down. Best I managed was 1:35:1 (stock car with gintani muffler w/rs3 tires). Which m3 are you in?

Thanks! 1:35 is a solid time on a stock car in the heat.

I have an Interlagos Blue E90 M3. Here's a couple pics from Sonoma Raceway last week:

i also have an AA x-pipe to Eisenmann and have an AA underdrive pulley and Macht Schnell stage 2 intake on the way. Then, BPM software ...

I went through a brand new set of XP20s in the front this weekend, drove home on about 1mm pad. Need to invest in some cooling + maybe PFC08s or Pagids and see if it helps, if not then a BBK for sure.

It was hot, muggy, humid all weekend in the 90s feeling like 100+. Not exactly the time to break any records, was also my second time on this track, but did take off 2+ seconds from my lap time.

Are you driving with MDM on? If so, you should consider turning it off... it will help in brake pads wear.

Thanks for sharing your gauge setup, I made a couple mods to them, hope it's ok .

I was driving with Euro MDM on, wanted to try it this weekend just for the hell of it. Didn't really notice it kick in much, kinda surprised how much leeway there is. That said, the rears are still pretty new from two weekends (though first weekend was completely DSC off). I blew right by the fronts though so I'm wondering how much front brake MDM applies.

Edit: I should add that, the weekend with DSC Off I went through a new set of front pads as well. That's two weekends and two sets of front pads, rears are just fine.

Either way, next time out it'll be fully off, wanted to have a baseline also.

Thanks!

MDM mostly uses the front brakes, especially at the track.

You can see MDM interaction by monitoring brake pressure at each wheels (available with Aim SoloDL that you're running). Here is an example video I put together showing MDM kicking in (I couldn't even tell when driving, only looking at the data after the fact).

From my experience, brake pads wear is much better once you turn off DSC.

Video mostly confirms the above comment, it's ever so slightly but over and over again, session after session it can definitely eat up the brakes. Euro MDM is great, but looks like DSC OFF still the way to go.

Added the corner brakes on dashware and can def see some brake input.

Thanks for the feedback!

I was that 335. I am not stock, but was running a stock tune. Have done a 1:35 in the past but was doing consistent 1:37s in that heat. Not all the tires, and super sports are definitely a tire I wouldn't complain too much about tracking on. In that video you were on throttle when the track lifts, a very easy part to have your back come out. Yes, tires make a difference, but power isn't everything. Coils > Supercharger IMO. Just because you have twice the power doesn't mean you should keep up!

Funny things about cool down laps. Sometimes your concentration backs off faster than you speed. I learned the hard way too. You never relax until you're parked in paddock.

In that video you were on throttle when the track lifts, a very easy part to have your back come out. Yes, tires make a difference, but power isn't everything. Coils > Supercharger IMO. Just because you have twice the power doesn't mean you should keep up!
Well driver skill makes the biggest difference. You can swap suspension and not be any faster if you don't know how to make use of it. But all things being equal, a proper suspension/tire setup makes all the difference. Fast through corners means you are already going fast through the straights. That's why some of those really high HP cars driven by beginners are completely dumbfounded why there's always a miata on their tail.

Went to Laguna Seca for the first time. It was quite hot for that area--over 90 degrees. Wow---what a wild track. First of all, it's the absolute smoothest pavement track I've ever been to. I dialed the JRZ's up to one click from full stiff and they were totally happy. The hills are intense. The corkscrew is like a blind roller coaster ride. There's a lot going on there. Quite fun! Video of the lap is below.

Smoking! I'm hoping to hit 1:40's this year. Haven't gone with the weight reduction and new suspension yet. You should be able to drop a couple more seconds with some more time there.
