At last! Got my car back on Friday and WHAT A DIFFERENCE! This is the car I wanted 1 year ago, finally you can control it around town, turning corners safely

I got software version 2.34.

I do find it strange that dealers are so hit and miss with this issue. A week earlier, my dealer didn't have a clue either, but then Phoenix trail blaised the issue with them, meaning that mine was relatively straightforward. If your local dealer is pleading ignorance, then perhaps a call to BMW UK customer services is in order? I've found them more than helpful before on a different issue.

Also got my got my back today - two days away having it's brain reworked to version 2.34.

Only done a few miles this avo - but on braking/slowing from D4/D5 round corner or approaching roundabout the gearbox is now handling gear change on accelaration pretty perfectly and with vigour!

Keen to get some more miles clocked up to see if any other DCT characteristic has reacted badly - but so far all is good.

This is so much more like the gear selection you'd expect from a standard auto now and should take the potential for "lag embarassment" away entirely!

Service dept also confirmed that if owners present the SIB to ANY dealer(previously referred to in this thread) there should NOT be any problems in getting work done under warranty.....

PS I tripped journey computer when I left it at dealers and they only put 4 miles on the clock - albeit it at a rather poor average of 8.9MPG!!!!!!!

Just wanted to make sure this is indeed the latest update or if there is an even later one?? In normal drive (D2) the lag is not only embarrassing but i think verging on dangerous. Therefore my car is definitely in need of any software update thats available since its manufacture (end of 2008).
worse than any lag issue is when i have the power button on and the car cant handle the power the jerks wildly back and forth. thats the worst

Sytner Harold Wood and BMW Battersea are by far the most informed about this issue...other dealers I spoke to didn't have a clue.

Presumably a car built in July being delivered on Monday will already have the latest software version ?

Mine was built last week of June and the dealership told me it would have the latest software.

Question: If you have a remap and then go for a DCT update does it overwrite the map?

Took delivery of mine at end of June. Gave the dealership the BMW SIB and asked for it to be checked and told that it came from the factory with latest software

Mine has been fine, yes I admit there is a little delay sometimes when you are in D2 mode but I drive around in D5 mode whilst i'm running in but I can't compare it to a previous M3 DCT as I have never owned one.

I had a Porker which had the PDK box in which is there version of DCT, the PDK had issues but I think the DCT box is better in my opinion. My previous Porker had a new gearbox after 18 months and then the engine went bang at 23 months just before warranty ran out. I would never own another Porker again!!

The dealership may just have been tellling me that mine was up to date just to shut me up and there may well be an update which makes the DCT even better.
I just think we are trying strivving for the perfect box, a great auto and a great manual in one but I have bought mine to be great in MSPORT mode which it is just awesome.

Perhaps Neil McRae would like to comment on his new DCT?

Mine is spot on. I don't notice any hesitation so far. Problem I have is I kick into manual mode and then forget to change gear as I'm use to the auto on the Z4 and 535d.

When did you take delivery of yours? And/Or you've updated the latest software?

Had mine since May now and had no real probs with the lag issue at all, neither has the car been updated since delivery.

As others have said, you can't have the best of both worlds. The gearbox IMO does an amazing job at taming quite a beast of an engine nto a pussycat round town in auto mode whilst still allowing mega quick fiece gearchanges as required when 'pressing on'

I potter around town in the default D (setting 2) but when I want the gearchanges to be a bit more sporty then I knock it up to setting 5. My 'manual' is at setting 5 all the time.

I think there is another update coming soon which almost eradicates the lag completely - I would be very interested in getting this done just to see if it can be any better?

I have had my car three weeks and I have to say I have experienced virtually no lag whatsoever. Certainly not enough to trouble me and I was driving an S Class so if it was a bit lumpy it should stand out like a sore thumb to me I would've thought

2.34 Update + Damage

Had the 2.34 update on my car today.

Didn't make much of the update at present because I was more p***ed off about the 1" scratch on my bonnet after collecting my car

I will post findings once I get my over the damage.
