Mudflaps to prevent kicking up rocks on cars behind you

I'm looking for a solution to prevent kicking up rocks on cars behind me. When going out for fun runs with friends, it is not so fun or cool when you throw rocks up on their new Porsches and BMWs. I've searched a couple threads and every person that brings up mud flaps to save the paint gets ridiculed. Preferably there is an option that could be installed and removed pretty quickly. If anyone has a solution I would appreciate hearing it!

Just don't rally with them? A couple things/questions come to mind:

Why are your friends following so close? How about give each other some space?
Where are you driving that kicking up rocks seem to be an issue? (i see you're in SJ)

To me this is more driving style.

+1

Or you can get those sexy ones they use on the STi's in bright orange so your buddy can see exactly how close he can get.. Or cut up some ones for a truck and just screw em in place, will look like hell, but functional.

Your friends shouldn't be trying to kiss your rear bumper then. This is entirely on them 100000%, and they should not expect you to do a thing about it. They should stay further back, period.

Not only is it safer, they'll save their front end paint from getting excessive chips, and they can push harder through the road knowing there's a bigger gap in front of them.

100% agree! If your buddies wouldn't follow so close, they wouldn't get chips and everyone would be able to move quicker. Keep at least a car length between your cars and there won't be any problems.

If you do say 100mph (yeah, I know you never do...) you need to stay faar behind in order to avoid spray so basically agree mudflaps is a good idea. Wouldn't do it for a million bucks though as it would destroy the looks of my M3..😎

The only car on the market that looks pretty good with mud flaps is a Subaru

I can see there are no good suggestions so far...

To answer questions there is easily 100 ft of separation between cars but new PSSs are throwing rocks like crazy on backroads. I'm on the receiving end of it when behind a friend who is driving a C7 Z06 with Cup 2s on it. Not nearly as bad when behind other cars. I see there an option for E92 335 mud flaps (http://www.reevesbmwparts.com/ACC-20...-24283-acc.htm), should those fit an M3?

This pic is not the E92 335 mudflaps thankfully...

This sounds like a great opportunity to bring back a classic. Just cut to fit, it'll look great. Trust me and please send pics post-install.

I understand this problem well. When my friends and I ride the curvy roads in the Smoky Mountains on motorcycles, I always sustains some rock chips from the guy ahead. We ride in a "pack" and hanging back is like riding alone, so it happens. I've seen some cars at car shows with black plastic mud flaps held on by binder clips - obviously temporary. I haven't looked to see how feasible it would be on our cars.
