Rear Rattle

Where is the general consensus as to where it is, and did you manage to fix it?

Cheers

Something in the back of mine rattles like crazy with my exhaust at cold start. Really annoying. It's more of a reverberation, like a panel is loose back there. My 2008 didn't have anything like it.

I got a new one here in the rear somewhere I just started noticing...makes one pop or crack sound when I turn onto driveways at slow speeds..like when the body flexes when u pulling into a parking lot or shopping center.

Sounds like the rear widow or where it meets the deck. I stuffed towels there between the deck and glass but that dint seem it help.

I also felt padded the inside of the 3rd brake light cover but that's not the issue.

Wonder if anyone else has this. I read something similar on e90 post and some old threads have said it was the glass and shelf being too tight together and u would have to move the shelf away from the glass but I've not attempted this...no clue Here but it's annoying

I have the same thing, nay, had, the same thing. Now it only slightly happens when the car body is very warm from sun exposure. My replacing and felting the rear vent and c pillars is what helped. Remove the c pillars and see if the driveway problem persists when they are off.

That sounds like a good idea. What's a quick easy way to take the c pillar off? Can I do it w/o having to pull the seats and deck?

Yes, very easy. Simply remove the airbag tag in the center of the pillar. It is a plastic piece with a groove on either side that lets you pop it out. You will need a torx screwdriver (I THINK T20), remove one screw, then grab from the top and pull inwards. there are two clips that will provide some resistance, but they will pop out. I then felt lined the whole thing, leaving no cream colored plastic showing. Especially the parts where they touch the headliner. That is where I think the problem was. I have a DIY posted for the rear deck. there might be something about the pillars in there as well.

I have this one too...pretty sure. Mostly backing out of the garage/driveway in the morning. Creaking/ Cracking noise when the car is turning out of the driveway. Annoying, but I don't know what to do. I think my dealership is starting to hate me with me talking it so much for them to fix rattles.
