M School

Dates are now available!

I just switched my trip ... I was planning to go Jan 1 to SC, but now moved it to March 5 in CA.

CA school cost a little more.... but now I can avoid the costs of a flight and extra night in a hotel.

How much? I checked the site and I only see a date for March 1st and Im assuming its on the East coast one....Could you provide the link?

Curious about this too! BMW's site does not show anything in California. I have family in California that I visit frequently so this could be much more convenient.

Plus fewer questions about the weather. Early Jan in SC and all it takes is one strong cold front. Can't imagine the high performance tires perform well in the cold. Of course it could also be 60 in SC in early Jan!

It's on the BMW Performance Driving School website.

Go to "booknow." In the box for classes, you will see certain classes followed by "- CA."

The price of the 2 day M school is $3,995.

I found nothing on the website.

I saw the announcement of the Performance Center West in October.

I had been searching for info about dates because I was scheduled to go in Jan. This morning I just happened to check the site and found classes being offered beginning in March.

True.

However, Performance Center West is going to have it's own weather issue. Summer in Indio, CA is HOT. From June to September, I bet the average temperature is 100-105.

Could be they are passing on the cost of the hotel... the Greenville, SC Marriott vs. La Quinta Resort?

Although it has not yet been confirmed.... they hinted that they use is the La Quinta Resort. I just looked to book a room for March 7 and the lowest rate is $429 plus a $27 resort charge.

I think I was going to pay $105 for an extra night at the Greenville Marriott.

If you do get a chance, Spartanburg has its own merits. You get to see the Delivery Center and your minutes from the plant.

Agreed.

I had hoped to take an extra day and tour the plant. Because I was set to be there just after New Years, the plant was not in operation so no tours.

I have been trying to get to Greenville for several years. From the West Coast, it's tough to fit the school and 2 days of travel into a work schedule....

Just a tip I found helpful. Bring some dramamine! I took some as a precaution before my two day M school and had no issues but several members of my class felt ill and had to borrow some of my dramamine...

Looks like BMW increased the cost of the 2 day M school to $3,995 for BOTH SC and CA.

I've spent 9 days at SC in the past several years. Great resources and Instructors! Delivery Center is cool, Store for M Apparel seems to get me sometimes, Factory, etc.

Can't wait to check out the West Coast site! Need a review of their M School after someone on this Forum attends....

There is a member of the forums (DrakeKemper) here who can do a private day with you at The Thermal Club for a couple hundred bucks. I did some checking and other instructors say he is very good.

M-school sounds awesome though. I would like to try it.

I signed up for a two-day M school in June on what's supposed to be a BMWCCA-dedicated date. The guy on the phone said I'd be staying at the La Quinta resort. Very fancy!

I know some people who are going to a two-day M school starting this week in early March. We should start hearing about people's experiences at the West Coast Performance Center soon.

You have got serious guts... going out there in JUNE! I suspect it is called the "Thermal Club" for good reason.
