Functional tow straps make sense.
The arrow stickers... ehhh only if you think a tow truck driver is going to care enough to look or if your hooks are hard to see. I've put them on my evo because the tow hooks were nestled deep under the bumper. I won't be putting them on my E92M because the tow straps are bright red lol |

i've always wondered about the straps that go through the slit in the tow hook plug. if you actually had to use it, wouldn't it kinda rip the plug out if the strap wasn't perfectly straight when being pulled?
i'm not going to lie, i've always liked the slit in the bumper with the hide away hooks like on the porsche gt3 cup's.

It could pop free, but you probably will be able to recover it once you're back in the pits.

i bought an extra oem hook and run with both hooks installed. never know!
at bimmerfest, some dude in a new mustang got towed back to the pits by his strut brace because he didn't have any tow hooks. scratched it up a little bit. he said he just bought it and was going to send it back saying it came like that... douche.

Mine in that above pic wasn't even paint matched. I just cut a slit in it with my dremel.

To me, tow straps isn't needed because we do have the factory tow hook. Unless you track your car then you you don't need it. For looks wise I think a tow strap is totally cool. I actually bought a MS tow strap..... used, because I'm not willing to pay $95 for something I'll probably never use. I do track my car once a month and I haven't used my tow hook (i don't ever want to) but the tow strap is functional for the track and looks cooler than the factory tow hook.
Now the stickers for the jack I think thats a bit overkill. 99% of people that will lift the M3 will know where the jacking points are. You are talking to a guy with lots of stickers too lol. |

Apply electrical tape to mark jack pad location. I'm going to apply mine in a way that you can barely see the marker when standing up. I'm not interested in attracting attention by placing a large marker there. Besides, I have sponsor decals there.

I'm actually just too lazy to remove them. This. I put both hooks on the night before event or once I arrive at track. Then they stay on the car for a while because too lazy to remove. Were you at the Texas Trifecta event in June? I spectated and got rides on Saturday and drove Sunday. Last edited by Kong Sheng Han; 07-20-2016 at 12:39 AM.. |

My track is the dragstrip not the twisty road. But anyway, if the very occasional racer wants to drive around all the time with his tow hook out for everyone to see and some arrows pointing at it, he should also wear his helmet and keep the numbers on his car and use his harness and wear his fire jacket. I am into reality not pretend. Do what you want to do; dont just try to look like someone who does it. Except on Haloween or at costume parties.
