SW version overview (ISTA I-level)
Hi guys,
in my search for later SW versions I bumped into this release overview that might be of interest for some other folks. For instance tells me there are later releases to my Jan'11 car, which I aim to get done next week. Maybe on the forum already but didn't find it. The E81/E82/E84 etc column is us. The first number (E89X) is the chassis, The second number is the year, with third being the Month of release. the 50x refers to the version number which isn't always changed with every firmware release. Cheers, Nik |

Ah, well there you go, apparently haven't learned to find my way through the forum yet.
The dealer who will re-load my car next week can't tell what actually is included in the release i.e. what modules will be updated - guess nobody does? Also as the column include varies models its hard to say whether the latest June'13 update include anything at all for the M3... Anyhow, got a reasonable pricetag so will give it a go. I'll report back any noticeable differences! Cheers, Nik |

Not sure what there charging you, but if you get a BPM Tune and your software is outta date I think Mike updates it for you, so you could get update(I think) and a Tune!

It's proprietary information. I don't think they'll ever release the full details, and some of it is probably very mundane/irrelevant. Sometimes you see reference to targeted fixes in TSBs, but I've not seen a full changelog-type doc.

Guys,
back from the dealer who on my request have performed a supposedly complete SW update. My car is Jan'11, had sw version 10-12-503 (i.e. P2.40.3 / 190E), now loaded with latest version 14-03-500 (P2.52.1). I specifically asked and the dealer to do the DCT as well as I heard this is a separate SW load to the ISTA pack. They said they will, and that it is part of the general ISTA pack which include modules for all functions (except for phone I/f). There was an DCT update confirmed together with various other things (took about 4h). However surprisingly they claimed no ECU update was available. Reading the numerous threads on the 240E (i.g. later than what I had) and its changes to the ECU it made me confused. Any insight here would be appreciated. I didn't have any issues prior to the update just wanted the latest. Initial driving didn't show any changes but I will check more tomorrow as I did have a slight clutch slip when cold which I want to see if improved. Thanks, Nik |
