Supercharger questions...

I'm beginning to have interest in putting a supercharger in my M3. Not interested in any particular brand (Most likely will be ESS). How's the reliability of these? I drive my car 30+ miles a day. Will It take it's toll on the motor? Will it completely void my warranty?

1. The kits out there are very reliable, many have been dd there supercharged m3 and you can talk to anyone who runs there kit everyday

You can talk to the following:
-Studentloan or anyone who works for ACM they are all currently running the ESS Line
- WayneM3 - he DD's his m3 and running the Evolve Kit

2. Just take care of the car and you will be fine, these kits are not sold if they were going to blow up your motor.

3. You will definitely lose your warranty if you show up with the blower on your car lol

Will it void your warranty?? I hope your kidding

they have been suprisingly reliable but one should not expect no problems to arise when you add boost to a high compression motor

ESS is the company we trust when strapping a supercharger to an S65. They are reliable if you take care of them (i.e. proper maintenance), but every aftermarket part (as the same as an oem part) can fail. And yes it will void you warranty unless you have friends who work in the service department.

I see you are in Miami. Feel free to stop by our shop we have 2 kits under the knife at the moment and our shop car with a level 3 kit on it.

The S65 can be extremely reliable as long as maintenance is taken care of.

As far as your engine warranty is concerned it will be out of the window if the supercharger is noted by a Tech or service adviser, but all other components should still be under factory warranty.

Shoot me a Pm if you have any questions.

Check out the last level 2 supercharger we installed.

No issues with my VF650 and I have a lot of fun with it to put it nicely. Of course I maintain my car meticulously.

In reference to the ESS, the VT1 (non-intercooled) & VT2 (intercooled) systems are both very streetable systems which transforms into a monster once the pedal is mashed.

Maintenance is very little on a supercharged car other than spark plugs and periodic S/C fluid changes (and rear tires). If you have someone local (check the regional section of the forums), see if you can get a ride beforehand to see what you think.

OP,I have had the Active Autowerkes kit in my car for about 10k miles. Not a single issue to speak of, not even a CEL. Doing oil changes every 5k miles now.

30,000 miles on my ESS VT535 and 45 track days. Still going strong.

Wonder if I should count up the number of sets of tires and brake pads I have gone through.... no, too depressing....

How often do you need to change SC fluid? Is it easy DIY?

Do it every 7500 miles or how often you change your engine oil. I probably do it 3 times a year.

Takes 5 minutes, unscrew fill port, open nut at bottom of drain line, collect the ~ 4 oz of oil, cap bottom nut, and fill with new fluid.

Have 5,000 Km's on my kit, not one single hiccup. Just do oil changes and plugs earlier than if you were to keep the car N/A. The car feels stock until you open it up.

After you feel the added power you'll forget about warranty. Very reliable on my part thus far. The ESS kit strapped to the S65 make a major difference. Drive one and you will become an addict for sure.

Thanks. That pic you posted is really nice. I am seriously thinking about 550 kit now. I PMed CBS, who also has this kit and tracks his car. Gave me very positive feedback. I already contacted Sal from ACM and he gave me the offer on this kit, i couldnt refuse

Like Nike says... Just do it! Its hard to explain the feeling of knowing you have all that power at your disposal. It feels especially good when those pesky C63's come around.
