E46 M3 expenses

Hi fellow posters,

I'm new to the forums, well not that new, but just never posted, and I'm seriously considering buying an E46 M3 maybe about 3-4 months from now as a stepping stone car, plus it's always been one of my must have cars, so I guess it's killing birds with one stone.

So my question is, I want to know what are the expenses of buying and maintaining the car. I want know how much money I have to make monthly to cover for the car (not including payyments since that's pretty easy to calculate), such as maintenance costs, how often do I have to replace tires, how much are oil changes, etc.

It would be a great help and would give me a better idea of what I'm getting myself into. Thanks!

I can tell you that in my area without any problems just a normal service has cost me the following:

Inspection 2 was $2320.00 (Includes Inspection 1 plus minor service)

Inspection 1 was $1050

Minor Service $780

These were the highest prices I paid.. I thought the dealerships would all be charging the same but this is not the case... found a dealership to do my minor service for $395!

Best thing to do is call around your local dealerships and get prices on all three types.

If you can buy one with a service warranty then do it... these puppies are NOT cheap to repair.. trust me on that good luck

It seems that I am spending around $300 a month on minor repairs, which is quite irritating to say the least.

Rear control arm bushings, maintenance, alignment, tires, tie arms, misc problems going wrong all the time, new clunks that show up over night etc
