M6 is more of a cruiser than the M3. I don't think either are particularly ugly or pretty, but the m3's body has cleaner lines. There will be plenty of time to buy large blvd. cruisers. Get the spunky v8 M3 that you ordered!

Agreed...considering that I'm only 32 I figure I'll have plenty of time to buy a cruiser...maybe the new M6 5yrs down the road....we'll see! For now, it's M3 ZCP all the way!

Good choice! Personally I would take a new M3 over a new M6 even if the M3 was in the same price range as the M6.

...and the next gen 6er is around the corner!
the current 6er IMO is butt ugly...not as ugly as half of the cars Audi produces...but damn close!

I know many people consider that to be unacceptable.
That is no longer true. Starting Sept '08 all M5's come with the ability to turn the DSC off. Cars built before that have a TSB that alllows for reprogramming to allow for full DSC disable.

That's awesome! Have people been reporting any problems that have resulted with that? Or would the cars always have been fine for the most part coming like that from the beginning?

I don't know how BMW ever thought that releasing the 6mt, which is for people who want a more direct connection with their cars, without a fully-disabled mode for the DSC was a good idea.

I have not heard of any adverse effects on any boards.
The reasoning behind it was the same reasoning behind the RPM limits set on
the US Launch Control for the SMG. They didn't want people revving up to 6000 RPM's and dropping the hammer/ burning out and having that violent power rush on the trannys. But in the end, they had to give the public what they wanted and what they should of had. I had mine done because I needed to be able to have some wheel slip during the winter when using the car in the snow with snow tires.

WAY disagree, unless your daily driving involves carrying people in the back seats. The M6 is an absolutely incredible DD.

Since we are on the M3 board you will get a lot of biased opinion here. I love the M3 and would pick one in a heart beat. But, let me be the Devil's advocate here. Let's face it, both car have more performance in the streets than you'll ever need. So, comparing their performance in the streets is just pointless.

-M6 is a $90k car. M3 is a $60k car. If you had the chance to drive either for about teh same price, which one would you choose?
-It has a V10 motor that sound way better than any V8.
-M6 is a rare car and plays in the exotic field.
-You won't be running into another M6 everyday.
-M6 is a more comfortable highway cruiser
-M6 interior is way more Luxurious. It is a $90k car interior after all.
-M6 accelerate harder on the highway, but does not handle as good on the tight roads due to it's weight.
-M6 is the top of the line and most expensive M car.
-Driving a M3 you are just driving an expensive 3 series.
-Driving a M6 you are a frigging rock star!

Since this is a lease, you don't care about depreciation anyways. And since you only live once. I would get the M6 in a heart beat.

Especially if you're into impressing punk kids or the a-holes around here that find it cool to drive triple digit speeds on city streets.

This thread is pretty played out. Bottom line is a new, better M6 coming soon. Anything bought now, new or pre-owned, will even depreciate faster. The '07 iDrive blows too. Have to buy now? Go M3.

Buying a 2010 6'er would have been my third in a row with the same body style. I don't find it an ugly car, but three cars in a row with nothing more than minor changes is boring. LOVE the M3, but miss the 6'er and will probably transition back after giving BMW a year or two to work the bugs out. It's the class of the BMW line and for 99% of driving environs it handles just fine.

Of course, you'll find about as many proponents for the M6 here as you'll find for the M3 in an M6 chat room. It's to be expected.
