PicassoM-My numbers show:
$47,400 ED E90 invoice $2,640 DCT $1,090 19 wheels $365 Alarm $955 Moonroof $365 iPod $500 Paint $865 Leather $910 CW package $1,820 Premium Package $2,960 Tech Package $825 Destination $1,300 Gas Guzzler $1,000 Dealer Profit $62,995 Total Not familiar with the CW package?? is this EDC? If so isn't it part of ZTP or is it extra? Taxes: with no trade, you will pay sales tax in your state at the current rate for the full purchase price at the time of registration. In KS you have 30 days to register the car and pay all fees. So you finalize the deal, go to Germany, get back and register the car/pay tax. I'm not sure on trade-ins and have not read any posts of people doing this...here is my situation. In KS there is a sales tax offset for a trade-ins. By trading my car, I will get a reduction in my sales tax: $30k trade at 7% sales tax (calc: $62,995-$30,000 (trade)=$32995* 7%=$2309 total tax). If I buy the M3 outright without a trade then here is the tax (calc: $62,995* 7%=$4409) a savings of $2100 in taxes if I trade my car. My problem is the coordination of the trade with a dealer far away. For me to really make this work I would need negotiate a trade with my local dealer that wants ED MSRP and $6k under retail for my trade. So $2k in taxes is not worth taking a $8-9k hit on the M3+trade deal....you do the math. Even if I drop it off at Carmax for the same trade in value then I am still better off paying the full tax and doing the ED with an out of town dealer with a reasonable profit. Of course I will sell it outright and try to re-coup some in a private sale. You also need to consider the timing of the deal. With an ED you complete the transaction and go take delivery of your car. Are you able to turn in your trade, go to Germany, and then wait 8 weeks without your car? I don't think they let you keep your trade vehicle during that time. You may also find some issues/options with re-delivery. I am in Kansas but working with a dealer in Atlanta. My car will be re-delivered to the PC and I'll drive it back. I could have worked with a local dealer and had it shipped here no charge but they wanted ED MSRP thereby taking all the savings as dealer profit. By taking re-delivery at the PC I can work with any dealer for the best service at a reasonable fee. I figure worst case is I can have it shipped to KC cheaper. Better scenario is a PC re-delivery with a one day driving school. For me I just could not find a local, reasonable dealer that would do an ED+$1k deal, give me a reasonable trade amount, allow the tax offset, take delivery of the new car and just out of good faith let me drive my trade-in for a few extra months....gotta give somewhere. Good Luck. Last edited by kcdude24; 03-29-2010 at 09:59 AM.. |

^^ I abbreviated the Cold Weather package as CW. Since i'm in NJ, they do credit you a tax break on trade-ins. Currently I have an 05 M3 with 43k on the clock. So a dealer credit would only be about 20k vs. getting 25-28k selling it on my own. So it would be wise to sell it privately depending on what the dealer gave me. I'm lucky enough to have a corporate car through June, hopefully longer (fingers crossed) so that would help a ton with not having a car for 2 months. Sales tax in NJ is 7% so $4,200.
Final comes to: $47,400 ED invoice $2,640 DCT $1,090 19 wheels $365 Alarm $955 Moonroof $365 iPod $500 Paint $865 Leather $910 CW Package $1,820 Premium Package $2,960 Tech Package $1,000 Dealer Profit $60,870 Sub Total $4,261 NJ Tax $825 Destination $1,300 Gas Guzzler $67,256 Total Might have to wait a bit longer and save up. I was hoping to get in around 60k, unfortunately I want it loaded Thanks for your insights. |

Wow that is very attractive pricing. A few questions: 1.) IIRC, the lease on my 335xi is not up till the latter part of Fall 2010. Is it possible that BMW will be offering more incentives during the end of the year if I buy my car through ED (maybe under invoice)? From my prior experience BMW is more motivated to move cars towards the end of the year (not sure about ED). 2.) Do BMW special offers (ie. the $2500 cash back on 2010's or loyalty cash back) apply? 3.) Do I have to physically be there to pick up the car? 4.) Are all ED cars made to order or do they have cars sitting around? Thanks in advance for the feedback. |

Is it possible that BMW will be offering more incentives during the end of the year if I buy my car through ED (maybe under invoice)? From my prior experience BMW is more motivated to move cars towards the end of the year (not sure about ED). All incentives offered usually applies to ED cars. I have not heard of anyone picking a ED car under invoice though..... Why would dealer order a car to loose money 2.) Do BMW special offers (ie. the $2500 cash back on 2010's or loyalty cash back) apply? As long as they are not for the existing inventory which ED cars clearly are not part of 3.) Do I have to physically be there to pick up the car? Yes, that is why it is called European Delivery! 4.) Are all ED cars made to order or do they have cars sitting around? They are all made to order. ED division does not have cars sitting around. Thanks in advance for the feedback.

2011 ED invoice for E93 is $57,365. I assume you are quoting ED MSRP at $61K with a discount to ED Invoice of 57K...which is a typical deal.

Voltigeur: Who did you deal with at Austin BMW? I live here in Ausin. I tried to use PMs, but I guess I don't have enough posts yet. Also, I'm a bit confused on the pricing too, is it $46k base, or $51k plus all the add ons.

You can do both through BMW Financial Services. They even take care of your 2nd lease payment. If you finance, your first payment due date is pushed back sixty days. Take this into consideration when you are comparing rates with other banks. Also, some lenders don't like the fact that the collateral for the loan (your BMW) will be outside the continent.

Here is some paper work I got from a local dealer. I didn't know the US invoice went up. I thought it was $50,140. Here it says $50,970. There is a MACO and some service/training fee which I believe to be complete BS on here. I would ask that to be removed.
Weird with the same configuration another dealer gave me a quote of $1000 more, asking for a breakdown from them so I will find out what the hell the differences are. SELLING PRICE: $61550 NJ SALES TAX: $ 4308.50 LUXURY TAX: $ 246.20 EST. MV FEES: $ 405.00 (4 YRS REG. & PLATES) MV. DOC FEE: $ 369.00 TOTAL : $66,878.70 Hardest thing is figuring out the price with all the other fees outside of base price + options. |

Quick Question - I have heard that European Delivery M3s don't come out of dealer's allocation. Can that be confirmed?
