Please tell me I'm not the only one..

that regularly pulls the wheels off to wax the inner barrels..

Hopefully it will keep the brake dust off for a few days !

I would love to but I don't think alot of people have the time for that lol invest in some opti coat to keep the rims protected for a longer period of time

Guilty as charged! On my X5 it's easy because I switch out once a year to my snow wheels, so that's my excuse!

+1.opti-coat should work better than wax to make it easier to clean off brake dust.

Regularly? No. When I'm doing maintenance on my car sure. I used some Menzerna sealant on mine. Helps a little bit, but we all know OEM pads = automatic gunmetal wheels after a couple of days.

I clean the wheels every 1-2 weeks with wheel woolies and use armor all protectant every couple of weeks or more. It does a good job of keeping the barrels clean for me.

When I do a full detail, yes I remove and clean the wheels inside out. No, I don't wax them. No time for that. I also swap between my 18s and 19s every six months or so just to keep the tires in use.

I don't pull the wheels, but I definitely clean the barrels every time I clean my wheels. I use some quick detailer and microfiber cloths after every 2-3 drives. Keeps dirt from accumulating and makes cleaning easy. I also clean the inside of my exhaust tips and routinely use a metal polish on the muffler cans and tips. About once a month, I jack the car up to clean and dress the wheel wells and clean off the suspension components.

My wife understands. She is the same way about our kitchen. We are a true OCD couple.
