Should I Go From E90 330 to E46 M3? NEED ADVICE!

OK Gents, I need some help...Any info would be appreciated.

I currently own a 2006 E90 330i, fully loaded. I am looking to get into an E46 M3 (preferably 2004-2006). I found a 2004 in my area for an asking price of 23k. The dealer claims its a "special edition" like ZCP or whatever...I highly doubt it because yes it has the correct wheels and cross drilled rotors, but it has red brembos and doesn't have alcantara, or the correct steering wheel that came with the competition package. (unless im mistaken).

Specs:
2004 M3 Coupe
47k miles
SMG
Grey with red leather
navigation w/ 6CD changer
heated seats
xenons
ZCP wheels, cross-drilled rotors, and red brembo brakes

-i thought it was weird that the carfax said it spent most of its life on the east coast then miraculously made its way to California. It also had 5(!) owners.
- the dealers asking price is $23k...what should i be looking to pay in todays market?

also, what are some common problems to look for in a 2004.

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

WTF, 5 owners? Cars are like girlfriends man, you don't want to get with one that's been with every guy on the football team. Well, maybe if that's your thing...
