M3 Angel eyes

Hi All,

I have been toying with the idea of changing my yellow driving lights (don't know the scientific name!!) for some new LED type lights and don't really know what I am looking at! I was hoping for some 'expert' advice on what to go for. Thanks in advance]

I for one would strongly recommend sticking with what you have. I personally HATE the new angel eyes on the regular 2011 3ers, and I was thrilled that they didn't carry over to the M3. They just stick out in a bad way and draw way too much attention to themselves rather than the halogens which integrate well into the styling are just noticeable enough to be menacing but not take your focus off all the rest of the front end. Just my 2 cents though.

I disagree. I think that the LEDs freshen up the look of the car, for them not to carry them over to the M3 I think dates it a little bit. While we as a enthusiast community know that its a new M3 due to other factors LCI, possible ZCP, others will see it and think that its a older one.

OP I'd look at the LUX Angel Eyes I have them in my car currently and couldn't be happier.

Fair enough. It's entirely possible I'm biased considering I hate pretty much all styling updates on cars where LEDs are added: GT-R, 911, E-Class, S-Class, etc. The only make that seems to get them right is Audi, the first make to do it widely and who everyone else is now copying -- badly IMHO. And even Audi has had some strange LED styling lately.

I dunno, for me I guess the halogens make the car appear more like a living beast (especially when they fade up when you press the Unlock button), whereas LEDs make it look like some sort of lifeless cyborg, and I find the former more intimidating/exciting.

I had Alpine. Definitely very bright, but perhaps too bright, and they are HID's, so they run a bit warmer. Huge debate/discussion over that issue that I won't start (even though I guess I already did).

Decided to go with LUX, not as bright, but still very nice and better than stock. And they are LED's, and look very nice. Install was very easy, and I haven't had ANY problems.

Would like to do OSS maybe one day (so I can black everything out except the lights obviously), but very expensive and would have to send in my equipment.

Searching on this subject will probably yield a ton of results.

Thanks for all the replies guys, excuse my ignorance (or should I say lack of knowledge) but what are OSS lights?

Is there anywhere in the UK to buy these LUX lights? if not anyone know where I can buy who can ship to UK? I assume if they are from US they will work in my UK spec car? sorry for all the questions but my modifcations to a car stretches about as far as a new air freshener once a month!!

I'm sure that Lux is an excellent solution but if you just want a quick and cheap but huge improvement get the GP Thunder 8500's. About 17 squids on eBay (shipped from USA). Very pleased with mine.

LUX is not cheap. It costs about $250 USD and it is LED based so much brighter than any halogen bulb.

17 squids? I don't think they accept seafood...but seeing how weak the dollar is and how expensive seafood is, it might be a good idea.
