I called a local place that does a lot of Porsche wheel refurb (Wheel Enhancement) and they quoted me $1000 for paint, or $800 for powder coat.

This sounded like a lot to me.

Both quotes are a bit high. $800 is the max you should pay to have them painted and that should include both sides and the barrel (some quote only the face). I admittedly paid less but I have a hookup. Also, for info none of the powder coat shops local to me could do this color. Many will attempt to "match" it but Porsche Platinum Satin is an 8 color mix with a custom satin/flat clear. Color code is OB5. I'll see if I can find some pics to post for reference.

Only one I have on my phone at the moment. I'd post more but I hate iTunes and iPhoto so much I can't bring myself to link up.

To be honest I'm not sure. What I did before I painted mine was to visit my local Porsche dealer. They had a 911 in for service and a tech friend of mine rolled out a wheel so I could pair it against the car in the sunlight. I'd suggest swinging by a dealer to look at the color in person.

I just got them on the car - car is very dirty. I am very pleased with the wheel color. The camera definitely does not do them justice.

Based on this comment, I would say yes.

Looks great. I'm going to refinish my zcp's before spring and love seeing some color ideas.

Terrible update to this thread

I needed to provide an update to this thread. I am about to have these wheels powder coated - the paint just didn't last. Took it in to be detailed and they ruined the wheels.

I think it was an aggressive cleaner and a pressure washer.

Hopefully you still have the paint code/formula that you had made for the Porsche platinum satin wheel color? Could you let me know?
