I'm guessing for this to be of any legal use on a track, there needs to be a minimum of 8 bolts holding that thing in place with plates underneath since you aren't welding.

Do a search for a thread I started here in the track section a few months ago--I was also interested in a harness bar I could use for my E90 M3 so I could run harnesses and finally give up on the Schroth QuickFit that's been teasing us for months and months. Quite a few people here, though, strongly discouraged me from doing a harness bar, saying that even the ones from reputable makers are half-assed solutions at best, and could potentially be more dangerous than running stock belts.
A lot of people seem to think the best bet is either keeping things stock, or putting in a dedicated, welded-in, tested and proven cage with harness mounting points welded to appropriate spots in the car (for lap belt mounts and anti-sub mounts). I was going to, then I realized I need the heated seat for the winter. and If I change my seat, have no idea what to do with it. My stock OEM exhaust still in my storage room. And After I graduate in two years. I need to move all these stuff is a lot of trouble.

sorry there is a total of four i believe and the rear bolt up to stock screw holes so no need to drill in the back (there are two screws for the rear, which I got confused with)

Our cage has three bolts per each base plate and rear down bar mounting points. Including a plate on the bottom of the car to sandwich the main hoop. |

If doing a rollbar (not harness bar) instead of a full rollcage, are there weight difference dpending on manufacturer? (Seen a few at the track with aluminum not sure how safe those are). There's setup I purchased from Autopower before MFest that I ended up not installing just because it's insane weight. I will most like be going with VS motorsport once I get a little clarity on the different types of rollbars. Holding off on installing my racing seats as well, as I fear I would have to remove the seats to get the rollbar in.

^^ I wouldn't be so concerned about the added weight of a roll bar. The amount of safety it adds far out weighs a couple more lbs. How much is your life worth? The roll bar in my GT3 probably weighs 70lbs. Plus if your adding one piece seats, you're saving a ton of weight over factory seats, so essentially the weight you add with the bar is just countering the weight you lost with new seats.
