The reason we are having this discussion is because the 335i’s engine is one of the best turbo engine in the market today. It can be easy to turn to surpass the M3 V8 engine performace. But still the M3 vs 335i is more than just the engine………..

just my 2 cents

The M3 isn't in the $70K price range...the GTR is...

The M is in the $54-57K price range, and not one car comes close to touching what it has to offer there...

If I had the money I would get the M3. But for now I love my V2 335I.

Fully loaded will get it up to $70k. BMWprince just got his for $73k and he got it down from $73.6K supposedly.

I picked up my M3 yesterday. I owned a V2 tuned 335 with KW coilovers and H&R sways. Both great cars. I obviously am partial to the M3 or wouldn't have made the investment, but I find it amusing that the M3's major competition seems to come from within.

Not really. It's major competition is the C63 AMG, Lexus IS-F and to a far lesser extent the GT-R. And when the Audio RS-4 comes out people will call that competition too. We'll have to wait on that and see what the price is. If the 911S were cheaper it would be somewhat of competition to the M3 also.

The 335 is an excellent car. There's no reason for 335 owners to be defensive about it. But all things considered the M3 is still better, even when the 335 is chipped.

Exactly...the 335 in only close, and I reiterate 'close', to the all around package of the M with at least $10K in mods...

I'd still take a base sedan instead...

I would take a base sedan over my previously "modded" sedan also..... But, I'd rather have my ordered car!

They are both great car with-in their price range.

If I could afford 70k, I would probably get the M3, but I can't afford it so the 335 with a chip does the job just great.

There really shouldn't be so much hate. After all they are both BMW's.

Can't we focus our "hate" on the....let's say....IS-FAIL?

I don't much care about the M3 vs 335 wars, but Conforti says he'll have his new Shark Injector packages out this month, apparently with a workaround.

I almost pulled the trigger on a new M3. Think ill keep my Z4M and 335i for a while. My 135i is coming this wed. and that car is actually funner to drive than the M3. After driving the e92 M3 it feels like the car has no soul and feels bloated and over weight. But I like small cars and the 3 chassis has been growing since the begining, thats why I am sticking the the 135i. And ill never give up my Z4M that car is like the E46 M3, raw, harsh, connected, and plenty of soul, the feedback from the car is outstanding. But I'm sure i'll add an M3 to my fleet in a few years anyway. New things take time to get used to. I'll probably hate the next gen Z4M with the V8 also till its been out for a while.

To each his own.

I don't think you spent enough time in the new M to be quite honest. Your post smells a lot like "I don't want to like the new M because it's better than my Z4M". Just my observation.

LOL, considering I can go out and by whatever car I want but choose only to buy what is fun for me to drive and how I felt driving the new M3 several times @ 1 hour at a time... Yea...

Like I said, to each his own.

But I guess you missed that part.

I replied based off of your post. Where were you able to drive a M3 several times for about an hour?
