Cool trade in M235i? no way?

I was at the dealer today and I saw one in mineral white metallic. This little car looks pretty sweet. I know it is not a true M and it is like going downgrade. But man, consider half price of a M4. I am really thinking. I bet the low end torque is much better in everyday bases. I am looking at the 8 speed auto.

I didn't realize they were 3500 pounds. No thanks, I'll stick with the V8 M3.

With a e92 DCT ZCP with a tune and Akra exhaust - clearly one of the most bad ass cars in the world - I am assuming you have had some kind of life change because I can't imagine anyone wanting to do this.

i dunno why ppl look at M235i or the 335i or 435i m sport or whatever...

i mean if it wasn't for V8 NA 6MT M3, my second choice still is the S4 all day everyday.

both FI are easy to tune, but S4's V6 TFSI S/C is much more reliable than BMW turbo.
if you are looking for FI, good torque DD with double clutch AUTOMATIC, S4 is the perfect recipe...
Of course, both are not as special and fun to drive than the M3.

M235i wouldn't be a bad DD. Tons of money for a 2 series, though.

The M235i looks nice but it's far from an E92 M3.

Test drove the M235i at dealer yesterday... It's a pretty sweet car. Those turbos really kick you in the back. The acceleration is brutal unlike M3's linear output. The steering is surprisingly responsive. It's miles better than the F3X series. Overall it's a really really brilliant car. For those who haven't driven the M235i. Don't judge it until you drive it. Afterwards when I got back in my M3, I could immediately feel the specialness of the M3. That V8 screaming is just heaven.

for me it doesnt matter how good the car feels. i dislike the looks, i dont care for the engine either. i need more than just power.

the screaming V8 has the high end power (which is find by me) and the sound. like you said.

Saw one at the dealer today with 52k price tag. Pretty hefty considering the F8x's are starting for only 10k more, but its a lot more car.

I wouldn't trade in an M3 for a M235i. If it was a lightweight tossable track toy, then maybe, but it's as much of a fat pig as the M3 is, with less interior space and a weaker engine. 3500 lb for a car that small is outrageous. How does BMW manage to make their cars so heavy? Do they add ballast or something?

Alright.. I'll post my thoughts. I own two M's currently, a DCT vert M and a 6 speed e90 M. I have driven the M235 now twice. This car is a 235is.... BUT, this is one special car. For a non-M, it is the most brilliant sporty car that BMW has made in a long, long time.

This thing will power slide without a limited slip. Everything is just right... I mean everything. With a limited slip and a performance exhaust, this is the right car for when the reasons match up. Basically, if you want the sportiest car BMW makes for 3/5's of the price of a new M, it is the answer.

I think you're probably right about this. Makes me think the M2 will be AWESOME!! But we're going to be splitting hairs on all the new choices. The 4.0 liter V8 is magic. Choices choices.
