I am looking for the maps upgrade but I been looking around no luck. I have a E90 M3 fully loaded. Anyone know of someone in the Texas area who sells the upgrade? Please let me know. Inbox me or email me victorsalas88@hotmail.com.

Another happy customer of Sergej @ *****************!

The new maps have a textured appearance when zoomed out I am coming from 2009 maps.

I used the iso download links earlier in this post, no problems. I ripped the iso's to USB flash drive without any issues. No problems with install either. The nav just booted up one time and then the maps were recognized and listed correctly as 2012 in the map info section.

Good luck all!

The disc supply seems to have dried up.

I have been trying the USB method after multiple download attempts to no avail.

Anyone with a set of discs that are ready to pass along? If you are local to KC I can make it worth your time with some recently imported beer straight from from Germany.

Just wanted to say thanks for all the NAV update info. Especially to Kmarei for hosting the ISO's, and Sergej for the FSC code.

I shipped my 2011 US spec sedan back from Germany and had a 2008 European Test version map loaded from the factory. German dealership didn't have the US maps available prior to me shipping my car.

I somehow still managed to screw up the FAT32 format on my 3 USB sticks. Just be sure to set it to the default allocation unit size, my NAV didn't like whatever I set mine to initially. I got some coding done by Mike Benvo and he sorted it all out for me and everything updated fine after that.

I did need the FSC code as well.

Thanks again!

Add me to the list of happy customers of Sergej @ *****************! Best prices by far, and quick turn around time.

Just a note to those of you thinking of purchasing multiple USB keys... It's not necessary. I had a 32GB stick, and I copied all 3 disk image files to the same stick in different directories labeled disk1, 2, and 3. I brought the files from disk 1 to the root directory and plugged it in. It recognized it no problems and started the process. When it asked for USB 2/3, I moved the files from root back to the disk1 subdirectory, and moved files from disk2 to the root and plugged it back in.

No problems. I thought it was taking too long initially and stopped the first copy at 29% (it stops at 35.x% when asks for USB 2) and ended up hiding all the disk* directories thinking the system was trying to copy all the data, but I don't think that was the case. I continued to move the data from hidden directory to root until the update was finished.

I even turned off the car to grab lunch and it requires putting the USB sticks back in 1 at a time (but quickly jumps to 35%, then 67%, etc) to pick back up where it left off.

Happy customer all around! 2012 Premium Map's updated!

Good luck all!

I'm having the same problem. I'm using USB thumb drives formatted to fat32. I've followed the directions on this forum, made sure nothing is corrupted. Double checked the MAV5.

But no matter what, my car doesn't recognize the thumb drive when plugged into the glove compartment. The thumb drives lights up, but nothing.

I've tried using different thumb drives but still no luck.

Any clues?

Same issue on this end. My glove box USB appears to power the drive, but little else. I will be using a set of "proven" USB sticks once they arrive in the mail and a double check. It appears to recognize music files when I last checked....

Hopefully it is just a download issue for me and not a defective USB port in the car. Anyone with other insights?

For those of you that have done the update, what have you noticed that is new? Just some more detail in the perspective view or updated street information?

Updated destinations and roads. I know there were a few addresses in NJ that weren't there in my 2010 maps that are there in the 2012. The graphics have much higher fidelity and 3D contours. The lane guidance is better for merges, exits etc. and of course updated POI db can't hurt. Was it worth it? Absolutely.

Again many thanks to kmarei for hosting the files!

+1 Sergej

For whatever reason, the USB will power up the USB (the one is used has an indicator light), but not read data. I switched to a set of "proven" USBs mailed to me (no indicator light), and still nothing.

I pulled the files from the USB to a set of dual layer DVDs and it seems to be working. I am on disc two and it is puttering away.

I am assuming that my glovebox USB is dead from the above and the inability ot pull music files.

UPDATE: I guess someone already posted on this Looong thread that our cars do not have enough juice to power an external HDD , however if anyone has any information to the contrary kindly chime in...

Does anyone know if I can use a blank external HDD to run this upgrade? I have a 09 Z4 with a glove box USB reader, however don't have a USB stick that is >8GB but have an empty HDD with 1.5TB capacity that I can format to FAT32.

Can I copy all the ISO's and extract the files to the root and hope the system will recognize what to do??

Thanks!

The USB port doesn't have enough power to spin up an HDD. Go buy a 16GB USB flash drive. They cost $20 now.

Just updated my 10.2011 2012 E93 M3 with the 2012 NA update. I DID NOT need an FSC code for this update-- the starting version was 2011i.

Very good. I have an Oct 2011 MY2012 as well, so I guess chances are good I won't need the FSC.

Someone please remind me... assume I have a 32GB thumb drive, I'll download the ISOs, open up the first ISO/disc, drag the two files to the root directory USB and plug it in. I'll need to keep the car running the whole time? Can I turn it off, go inside to load Disc 2, and come back later? How long is the entire process, start to finish?

I may just use three DL-DVD+R discs instead if it is easier. So how long would that take. I hate to have the car idling for 2 hours, and I don't have a trickle charger.

I got the FSC code from Sergej (*****************) and everything went smooth (he replies really fast, usually within a couple hours) so I'd recommend him as well. I'm coming from 2010 maps and burned the isos to three DVD+R DLs and just did it while I was driving (took a few trips since it does take a couple hours like others have said but it resumes when you start the car up each time).

I used 3 USB memory sticks (16Gb each) and completed the update from start-to-finish in my commute home (less than 40 min).

+1 for Sergej and Kmarei - thanks to both I now have 2012 maps on my E89 .

For those of you who have been using the maps - what differences have you noticed? I tried to google on what was different and could not find anything . Someone had mentioned that these maps now do 3D panorama but I still do not see any buildings in my map view - all I see is a single point perspective and a horizon with clouds (daytime) and stars(nighttime setting). Thoughts?
